I took things a lot easier today. I've pretty much decided not to stress so much and it seems to have worked for the most part. No more working after dinner, I say. I applied to a bunch of tech-related temp agencies, wrote a silly, little cover letter for that "real" job I've applied for. Tomorrow I'm going to work on skills, review DSP stuff and maybe work some on my programming.
I went to see the house I talked about in the last post, but I didn't like it enough to think it worth the extra stress of not being able to afford a second month off of my current savings. The owner and I talked for a long time about relationships (he's recently divorced) and he said that in his experience, women seem to get their acts together around age 30, figure themselves out without all the mid-life crises. I hope he's right. I hope I figure things out. I'll have to call him tomorrow and tell him I'm not interested in the house.
I've applied for an apartment in south Austin instead, just south of where all the cool kids hang out. It's an older complex, so it looks cruddy outside but they're redoing the inside and I'm getting a pretty good deal on space. It will be ready by the end of next week and they'll let me know on Tuesday if I pass all their checks. The only problem is that the pet deposit is pretty steep, so I might have to wait until I have some income. But the point of the kittens was to keep me company while I adjust, so I just might have to do it anyway.
