Alright, so I'm ready to start Marla's hat. Her head size is about 20.5 inches, and the adult kitty hat is for a 23 inch head. I found the baby pattern version of the hat, and compared it to the adult pattern.

Adult: Cast on 84 stitches.
Baby: Cast on 70 stitches.

According to the Yarn Harlot, if I make it a roll brim, I should figure out how many stitches per inch (5), times it by the head-size ... and that should have me casting on over a 100 stitches.

I think I will go for the middle of the road: 77 stitches.

These are the reasons when I grit my teeth, and realize that all my math teachers were right in that I *would* need and use math in my adult life.
