so tell me...
if you were an English major who's been keeping a journal for 20 years or so but never written anything of, uh, substance, which continuing ed class (which will all probably turn out to be shit anyway) would you recommend taking

i went from journalling to "nonfiction" and i really liked it, had a successful time, etc. however, i have to say, i'm so TIRED of my own life! think of what it is you WANT from a crw class. fiction is very cool because you get to be god and create a world! but it's also harder because you have to play god. and if you take a class that jumps into the mechanics of all the different stuff, such as character development, plot, etc...it is sort of hard to remember it's supposed to be FUN...it's supposed to be playing GOD...but, on the other hand, since you've been journalling for so long, it might be refreshing.
if, on the other hand, you're intimidated by it all, then some "terra familiara" or whatever, familiar ground, might be where you're most comfortable, thus the nonfic class...because you've got to have a measure of confidence to move from journalling to "writing like a pro."
my last bit of advice...don't GIVE UP journalling in lieu of "real" writing, because there's no replacing the spiritual comfort and growth journalling provides...in fact, "writing like a pro" can often feel like it's stripping away your internal resources! so be careful!!!

and i had my fingers crossed that you were still around, the omniscient-yet-silent observer! thanks so much for your response.
i guess i'm leaning toward fiction since it might be the most challenging. maybe if i learn how to tell a story then i will, you know, TELL STORIES.
thanks again!
i am thrilled ot know you are still here.
