And omg what's up with Ruby turning tail? Last season's Ruby was not this much of a chicken. I miss Katie Cassidy liek whoa. If that's all they're gonna do with Ruby then WHY THE FUCK did they bother with her anyway. Seriously

I think I've been in a lot more boy-type fandoms(in terms of video games, tv shows, movies, etc) because the way Ruby was played last season was very cardboard cut-out of the Lara Croft type angry-cold-stoic character that needs to emasculate men in order to have "power". It's the fanboy wet dream of the hot, fighting, angry chick. I read her as part of the CWs attempt to get more in the 18-35 male demographic.

I'm way more interested in this Ruby. She has fears, and concern for Sam -- she's hoping for things to turn out well, all the while worried that they might not. She has dimensions. For the first time, I'm excited to see where they'll take the character. I love her having more emotions than just snarky.

I also adore the new actress. I used to say that I might actually like Ruby, if she were played by someone who could act, but I didn't know just how true that was until I saw it. I now find myself wanting to write fic about Ruby, and all kinds of fannish glee -- so unexpected! But very exciting :)

i think my biggest problem is it's so JARRING from last seasons Ruby. they didnt have any bit of merge time between the two, we don't know how she suddenly became all cuddly and thoughtful.

and you know, since shes a DEMON i dont even trust those feelings.

My read on it(and I know I'm being one of those fans that reads in to things, but, that is the nature of me :( ) is that Ruby and Sam have developed an actual friendship over the past four months.

While previously they had no trust in one another, Ruby was cold and stand offish. Now that she has some trust in Sam, and they work together, she's more likely to talk openly with him.

I also don't believe they're sleeping together. Or, I should say, I cannot believe that, because if I did, that would be rape, and the show turning my favorite character into a rapist would be...well. That would be the end of things for me and SPN, and I would be a v. sad puppy :(

So, for the time being, in my head, Sam and Ruby have been living out motel room, and played the sex card to trick Bobby and Dean.
