Last weekend, I built a shelf. Well . . . most of a shelf. Through some really frustrating bit of miscalculation, the final two pieces turned out about an inch too short. Fortunately, I sort of planned to make a shorter shelf anyway, so they're not wasted.

As much as I dislike humanity's dependence on petroleum and the effects of petroleum waste and byproducts, I'm also critical of uncontrolled development of technology like ethanol and wind farms1. This leads me to be characterized by a lot of idiots as a supporter of big petroleum companies.
