DDD: 36 - Log with Lily [Apologising at rounds]

Nov 29, 2011 03:30

James was very glad when the virus was over. He'd had fun with his 'brothers' at the start of it but it had gone downhill fast. First Snape's body and then seeing his own death, it really hadn't been the best week of his life. And it certainly didn't help his relationship with Lily. So on their rounds the following week, James decided to do ( Read more... )

Lily hadn't been sure what to expect when James stopped her before heading into Gryffindor Tower. What he did say caught her completely off-guard. She hadn't been expecting this at all. Had it just been about the virus that had given him three blood brothers or the change in bodies (as disturbing as the latter was), she'd have cut him off early to insist he didn't have a thing to worry about ( ... )

James smiled broadly when she accepted. The time seemed to have stood still while he waited for her answer. He knew it was just the community's doing, she'd said it so often, but he still felt as though he should apologise.

"Thank you." He paused again, trying to think of the best way to ask his suggestion. "I thought maybe we could do to Hogsmeade next weekend. You know...together. As friends. And before you say anything, I'm not asking for a date. It's not like every other weekend we've had for the last five years, I just want to buy you a butterbeer as a friend...." He'll continue to ramble like this until Lily says something. Nervous James is quite a sight to see. He was very glad everyone else was in their houses.

Oh goodness, she wanted to laugh. Nervous James was such a drastic change from his usual, confident self. And he was insisting that it wouldn't be a date, just a trip as friends. Lily stifled a giggle behind the hand not holding the flower.

"Alright, I'll go with you. But on one condition. You let me buy you a butterbeer to make up for some of the things I said during that virus."

James stopped abruptly at the confirmation and stared for a moment. Had she just said yes? Would he really be going to Hogsmeade with Lily Evans?

"Really? You'll go with me?" He had to ask again. This was just unexpected. As much as he had wanted this, he never thought it was actually going to happen!
