All I want for Christmas is you.

Yeah, I haven't updated for a while. So what?
I haven't had time... I've been crazy busy.

Playing at the water company banquet at MU was a lot of fun... the jazz band sounded good and the food was tasty. The break was fun for some people, too. That weekend consisted of cleaning my room, delivering fruit, talking to Johnna, church, and the church Christmas program. I actually did my Gensler vocab sentences!

Monday, Johnna's jaw had gotten so bad she went to the doctor. Turns out, she had an infected spit gland. My mom brought me to the school so I could see her choir concert. They did great. Afterwards, Sandy brought us home, but on the way, she stopped at McDonalds and let Johnna and me go in by ourselves for ice cream. She even payed. Heather Mays was there. It was a lot of fun.

Rory Chapman bought me the Blues Brothers Definitive Collection CD for Christmas. I was awed. I seriously couldn't ask for much of a better friend. I kinda feel bad because I spent all my money on Johnna and I couldn't get him anything... I'll make it up to him with an honorable mention and a burnt CD.

Tuesday night, our jazz band played at the MU basketball game. It was a good night. Jon Humphreys was there, and he had his Paris, so he played with us. This little black kid walked up to me and asked to hold my sax, and I couldn't say no. Then he went for Emily's silver alto, and he blowed on it. Crazy kid. He also spanked his friend, making him fall to the next row of bleachers. It was funnier than Catholics wearing condoms.

Wednesday, we had our Winter Solstice party in English. The youth group at church had a pizza party. I stayed up half the night writing Christmas cards.

Thursday was a super-easy day in school... didn't do much of anything. I passed out Christmas cards, too. It was great seeing some people's reactions. Totally worth it. And I duct taped Courtney Turley's locker.

Friday was a day for the record books. I had to wake of early and go to school on the first day of Christmas Break because Jazz Band, show choir, and Collegium had to perform at the Prostart teacher breakfast. I think I'm finally on Gensler's good side... I carried a box to her room for her since I got there early. She went out of her way after we performed to thank me and praise our performance. I came home and baked chocolate chip cookies, later preparing Johnna's gifts. A couple from Summersville came and bought my old silver tenor sax, and we used to money to replace the TV going bad in mom's room. We bought a 24" RCA at Best Buy, put it in the living room, and put that TV in mom's room.

Johnna and I met outside the movie theatre at around 4:15. We got there at the exact time time, which was amazing. We bought tickets for the 4:40 showing of Cheaper by the Dozen 2, and then we went and rode the Merry-Go-Round. I haven't ridden one since the Florida Trip. Then we went back to the theatre and exchanged gifts in the theatre. She gave me my very first John Coltrane CD, the Ken Burns series edition. Very nice. She also got me a picture frame with some pictures in it. That's all I'm saying about that. :) I burned her a CD with 20 songs that say exactly what I want to tell her... Queen, The Eagles, Orleans, Frank Sinatra, Chicago, The Beatles... things of that nature. I also gave her some cookies and a giant kiss (Hershey's). She was incredibly thrilled with the teddy bear in a santa suit. Even then, she said she was happy and that it had already been a wonderful Christmas...

But then I pulled her ring out.

And then, at that moment in time, the expression on her face made my life worth living.

I've always wanted to make a sad girl happy. And over the last three months, I think I've achieved that. But things can only improve from here. There's no going back. When you tell somebody you love them, it's said. And when I say it, I mean it. I swear, that girl makes me feel so incredibly special. We've been through quite a bit since we met back in August, but it's only just the beginning. When I slipped that promise ring on her finger, it glowed. It's a little big, but that's okay. Sometimes you have to grow into something, or in this case, wrap some string around it so that it'll fit. Her touch makes me feel so alive. I honestly don't know how I'd ever live without her. I want her to have the merriest Christmas ever. And I think she has.

& we walked around, ate at Cosimos - where I spilled my pop, went to the picture booth,  and it was such a spectacular evening. Thank you, Johnna, for everything.

I also made some positive ground with her mom, too. My mom wanted Sandy and Johnna to come in for a few minutes after Sandy brought me home from the mall, and Johnna's mom said yes. So she came in, sat down, and and at a cookie. And, most of all, she allowed Johnna and I in my room for a few minutes. Alone. I'm amazing. And she knows about the ring, too. She also knows it's the real thing, even though I jokingly said I got it at the Dollar Store. But perhaps what makes me happier and gives me more hope than even that... Johnna's not afraid of her mom knowing about it. She's not going to hide it. And that thrills me. Since her mom hasn't said anything bad about it yet... I'm quite hopeful. Things have been great so far, but if Johnna wouldn't have to be afraid of her mom knowing and so paranoid all the time, well... it would be a good thing. But really... all you need is love.

After she left, I installed the new TV. Today, we went to our second family's dinner at my mom's best friend's house in Teays Valley since nobody in my own family was willing to hold a dinner anything. It was good, though, and we go every year.

Tomorrow's Christmas & I'm excited.

Look, I don't care if you're a Christian or not. At its very simplest, Christmas is a holiday celebrating a baby who was born who would later bring a great message to all mankind: simply, life, peace and hope. The whole Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas thing has gotten so out of hand it's absurd. Learn to get along, people, please. Don't try and force your religion on others, but just because you may not believe what others believe, don't be hypocritically intolerant yourself. Christmas should be a time of coming together for a common cause: love, life, food, and family. Whether you celebrate the birth of Christ is up to you. I personally do, and I'm certainly all for it. But if you want to go and take Christ out of Christmas, take Santa, lights, food, presents, and the federal holiday as well and save your tax money.

I'm done.

Merry Christmas to you all. I have the greatest friends on the face of this earth and you all mean the world to me. Even Courtney Turley.

Pictures:

A picture I took a while ago. I didn't post it 'cause there was no flash, but I greyscaled it and it's fine.

Freshman Choir.

I zoomed in as far as I could.

We have such an awesome Collegium.

=)

Comment.

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows that eggnog and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa's on his way;
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother's child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.
And so I'm offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
A very Merry Christmas to you!

and Johnna Bailey, I love you. Merry Christmas, babe.
