National IQ test

Last night the nation gathered in front of its TV sets to play the Nine Network's Test Australia: The National IQ Test 2002.

The almost four-hour telecast was a huge hit, with 40,000 viewers registering to take the test at home on their computers.

We learned that people who wear glasses are smarter than those who don't. And tall people are smarter than short ones.

Blondes are smarter than New Zealanders but everyone else is smarter than blondes and Kiwis.

An IQ of 130 and above places you in the top 2 per cent of smarties in the country.

The smartest person in the Channel Nine Melbourne studio was teacher Terry Yemer, with an IQ of 147.

Teachers, in fact, were the smartest group in the studio followed by celebrities and students.

Smartest of the 10 studio celebrities was Red Symons with an IQ of 131, which puts him in the top 2 per cent of the nation.
