[Los Angeles] We Have A Dream Too! Come participate in this years MLK Parade

With MLK Day being one day before the historic Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama, many people want to use this holiday as a way to "make it a day on, not just take a day off", so during this historic three day weekend, many people in the LA area may be looking for a way to get together with friends and family and participate in some meaningful activities.

With this in mind, all people who live work or play in the Los Angeles area are invited to join the We Have A Dream Too! Facebook Group and also to PASS THIS INFORMATION ON to ALL your friends.

The Jordan/Rustin Coalition is proud to announce that we will be marching in this year’s MLK parade. We are marching in collaboration with the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) and HERE TO STAY!!!

This is a momentous time to marching in this parade, with our President Elect Obama and after a year of hard work on No on Prop 8 along with the aftermath of No On 8. The Martin Luther King Kingdom Day Parade has been celebrated for the last 20 years and over a million people take to the streets of Los Angeles to remember the life and works of the great man.

The parade commences on Martin Luther King Blvd at Crenshaw and lasts for two miles until Western. It includes more than 150 floats, 20 drill teams, ten dance groups, celebrities aplenty and the bombastic tunes of a military marching band. Local vendors and restaurants spill out onto the street in the carnival atmosphere.
