Shame
The Queen rushed down the sleek metal halls with her nails clicking on the floor. They had stolen eggs from her clutch and she was eager to find both her offspring and those responsible for their kidnapping. The scent of both mingled in the halls and grew stronger as she careened toward the doors marked “infestation area”. She knew what that meant. Her children had hatched since they had been taken from her care.
She hurried faster letting out a series of clicks and listening for responses that would indicate her offspring was close. She tore effortlessly through the steel door that closed the “infestation area” from the rest of the building. The other side revealed humans scattering in all directions.
The hunter instinct kicked in and she charged at the ones before her who were fleeing into a hallway. At a full sprint she disregarded the bright yellow signs that flanked the door. Her feet hit the metal just over the threshold and she instantly knew the meaning of the sign. She felt sympathy for the little human on the sign with his feet flying into the air as she started to slide on the wet surface. She floundered trying to regain her footing as she slid down the hall. She had too much momentum and her feet started to slide out from underneath her.
The wall was coming fast and she scrambled her nails simply sliding on the smooth wet metal. She slammed full force into the steel wall. The steel crumpled under her weight as she shrieked in panic. She tried to stand dizzy from her impact and still caught on the slick floor. She continued to fall as she tried to scurry toward an open door.
Humans came toward her and she snarled. It was their fault that she had been mocked in this way. They had put this liquid here and she burned with hatred because they had seen her fall. Sliding back into the crater her body had created on impact with the wall she launched herself at the defiant humans intent on making them pay for such an insult.
