Gal hasn't really been able to settle down here. She sleeps in a different place every night, usually outside. While she enjoyed Jessica's company during the storm, with that as her introduction nowhere really feels safe.
She's not anti-social, far from it, but the idea of a mass communication system is still new to her. And as much as she hates to admit it, being completely out of her element means she has to make her own structure, which is difficult. So when she discovered the neglected remains of a training arena, she set about fixing it up. It gave her something to do, working with her hands. A sense of satisfaction. There are still signs of weather damage all around, but the debris has been swept from the open spaces and the weapon racks reassembled.
She doesn't train with wooden swords, however. Her own is always keen and balanced, and she's used to its weight. Without it she'd just feel odd. She goes through a few warm-ups halfheartedly, but soon enough the familiar movements give her some energy, and she loses herself in them for a bit. Strikes, parries, different steps and dodges. Though her usual partner isn't there, she pretends she is. I really miss her that much, huh? I wonder if she got my letter.
She finally stops when she decides that's enough sweat tricking down her back, sheathing the carefully curved blade and setting it down on one of the racks for a moment, instead of its customary place at her belt. She forgot about one important thing: towels. But there are only women here, right? She sheds her shirt and jacket, leaving just the cloth binding over her chest, and sits down to stretch.
