Xion often found she had a hard time sleeping here, in a different place every night. While it wasn't so far from the time she'd spent running from the Organization, here she was alone. There was no one to watch over her while she slept, and for the first time in weeks, she found herself not missing her friends, but Riku's steadfast presence. He never spoke much, but he was there, and now ( ... )

Yamato stretched out her hand, examining the scrape. It was bleeding, it stung, and she could feel her throat closing against tears. This is ridiculous, grown women don't cry just because they scrape themselves! But it was unbearable, it hurt.

The voice startled her. Yamato jerked her head up and dashed the moisture away from her eyes, scrambling to her feet. She didn't say anything, but the noise of her movements was more than audible.

Xion turned her head at the sound, squinting. There were hardly any lights here, and it was hard to make out any forms in the shadows. The girl shifted from foot to foot, her small, black-cloaked figure probably equally lost in the darkness.

"Are you okay? If you're hurt, I can...I know some cure spells."

"I don't need any help," Yamato said. Her hand ached, a constant twinging pain. "I can look out for myself."

What was it with the people here, always putting themselves in each other's business? Yamato wanted to be alone.

Though Yukari had a reputation for sleeping, not all of that sleep went on in the night. After all, many youkai were traditionally nocturnal, the creatures that haunted and hunted in the dark.

From inside one of her gaps, a place that was on the boundary between here and there, Yukari opened numerous small portals to look out onto this world. Even thought her range was limited -the wild places simply were undetectable - she saw what she could see.

There was not much, granted. She had been looking for some time, and found that nothing special happened in nighttime; if any of the dear captors went out at when the sky went dark, she was not able to find them.

She was about to abandon her evening vigil for more interesting pursuits when she just happened to spy upon something unexpected.

"Hmmm" she thought, upon seeing the fallen girl. "A newcomer?"

Opening the portal wider, she stepped through, closing the rest behind her.

She floated down from above holding her parasol, the white and violet of her clothing muted by the darkness. She landed beside the fallen girl, grass crinkling under her feet.

She said nothing, at first. Only waited to see if the girl would move.

Yamato jerked at the noise, looking up. She quickly climbed to her feet, clutching her scraped hand to her chest and glaring.

"What do you want?"

Yukari smiled. "Ah, an angry one" she thought. "Should be fun".

"What makes you think I'm anything other than a random passerby?"
