Coming out the other side

Dec 19, 2010 11:46

Characters: Yamato [OPEN]

Date: Very late at night on the 18th/running into the 19th.

Summary: Dealing with the return of her pain receptors is proving more than a little difficult.

Warnings: Yamato is very unstable and likely to lash out.

At night, the gardens were quiet - almost deserted, especially in this place close to the edge of the wilds. Yamato wandered that edge, skirting the untamed jungle with hesitant footsteps, like she was afraid to go in but was forcing herself to face it.

Nothing was right here. Koya's absence was thing number one, a deep ache in the bottom of her chest where their bond, false as it was, had been broken. She put her hand to her chest, squeezing at her breastbone, her breath shortening as her fingers dug into the skin and lit up her senses.

It hurts, she thought - more like a mental wail of despair. In the dark, her shuffling feet caught something and she pitched forward, her hand going out instinctively. The impact went shivering up her arm and her palm felt like it was on fire. She couldn't help but cry out, stifling it immediately between her clenched teeth.

There she sat, curled on the ground, her hair in her face, trying to breathe through the pain. Nothing was right here. Nothing was right with her.
