[The first chance Ema gets, she's sitting in the bridge of the spaceship playing with the controls and taking notes on the technology. She's terribly disappointed that it's only a flight simulator... and is even more disappointed when she crashes during every attempt at playing it. But it's still science, in its own way, and it's good information to have. Just in case she ever needs to fly a space ship.

[being an ACE PILOT herself Kallen cannot resist the urge to poke around in the guts of the ship, though she is surprised when she sees she's been beaten there]

Oh, uh, hello. This the control room?

Yep! Although the space ship doesn't actually fly, in case you were getting your hopes up.

Tch. I shouldn't be surprised.

[totally looming over your shoulder just a little] What are you up to, then?

[Ema pulls her notes a little closer to her chest.] I'm just looking at what's here, mostly. This isn't my field of science at all, but it's always good to learn new things.

[Thoughtful pause.]

Also, I can't beat the flight simulator. So I'm trying to figure out how.

I guess that makes sense. I know some scientists like that.

[ping!] A flight simulator, eh? Well, if you feel like taking a break, maybe I could take a crack at it? I'm a pilot, myself. [okay of knightmares, not spaceships, but still]

[Ema relinquishes the seat and waves the lady over.] Go ahead! You'll do a lot better than I did, being a pilot and all.

Do you mind if I watch and take notes?

[moves quickly enough to take her seat, looking over the controls rapturously at first, but oh wait that's a lot of buttons] Huuuuh. This looks a fair bit more advanced than my Guren. Then again, it doesn't go into space...

Ah, no, go ahead. Hopefully I can put on a decent demonstration.

[Ema sits in seat next to the pilot's seat and smiles, already taking notes.] What's a Guren?

[and Kallen boots it up, hoping that things aren't too much different than piloting a knightmare, okay, that's how the thrusters work, can totally do this] Hm? Oh, it's my Knightmare frame. It's...like a big robot.

Ooooh! We don't have anything like that where I'm from! [Type type type.] How do they work? Advanced robotics?

No? Seems like we're, aha, lucky that way. It, uh, is robotics, yes. I'm not the best with machines, but it runs on Sakuradite?

Sakuradite? What kind of mineral is that?

Hmm, they don't have that where you're from? It's a highly volatile mineral compound we use as fuel. There's a huge store of it under Mount Fuji.

Under Mount Fuji?! No, I've never heard of it, so we must not have that at all.
