[For once, Vitalia is actually using the Vine!] While I would normally refrain from attempting this unannounced communication, I find myself rather frustrated with this new addition to our landscape.
[She holds up a specimen of the new flowers, frowning.] It does appear at first to be a normal member of Dianthus caryophyllus, yet it appears to have an unusual growth rate-- indeed, one I've not observed in nature-- exceeding even those Oriental plants, Pueraria lobata and the Bambusoideae subfamily.
I'm afraid much of my equipment has been damaged by the recent inclement weather, so I cannot do more than the standard observations and study, and while there seems to be some... anatomical aberration, I can't seem to isolate any particular deviations. I can't account for it at all. I'm certain the surviving equipment is in good repair...
er, so. I was hoping to prevail upon the other scientifically-minded citizens of this place, in hopes that, perhaps, there might be some element I've missed, or perhaps a difference not observable with my current apparatus? I should greatly appreciate any aid that could be lent.
