[Yes, it's another new face on the Vine - a young woman in her early twenties, hands folded in the lap of her lacy dark-red dress as she calmly addresses the camera.]

Well, I don't really know what to think about having tried to get to another world and ending up in an entirely different other world than the one I was aiming for. I had been under ( Read more... )

The cats should have scrolls available to give you the basic rundown. I also have brochures in the library to get you more up to speed. You can ask the cats to show you the way. They're not total jerks like normal cats.

My goodness, helpful cats? I think that might be the most unusual thing about this place.

And a brochure sounds like it would be quite useful, so I suppose I'll be heading to the library. Thank you.

Yeah, actually... it's probably more normal than a lot of the stuff here.

Glad I can help. I'm Jessica, by the way. Jessica Boyette. Feel free to bug me on the Vine if you need help or anything.

Well, yes, I had supposed as much. It was just a joke really - you know, I've nothing against cats, but "helpful" isn't a word I associate with them. They walk by themselves and all places are the same to them, and that.

And I'm Athena Fairchild. Pleased to meet you.

Sorry. I suck at jokes sometimes.

Likewise. Though I guess maybe I should be saying, "My condolences," since we're stuck here and all.

To tell the truth, I don't mind being here all that much. Not yet, at any rate.

Only problem- OK, biggest problem- is, you can't go back. Voluntarily, anyhow.

... ah. And how long are people normally kept here?

Let's see... [There's rustling offscreen, and she produces a sheet of notebook paper.] According to the people who've been around the longest, it's probably been about five months now. Some people have gotten back home sooner, some people got back home and then appeared back here later.

It's frustratingly inconsistent.

... I see. I confess I don't have very much going on back at home, but... five months is an awfully long time to be away.

Yyyyyeah. Also, you can look forward to being messed with on a nearly monthly basis as crap just happens.

What kind of messing-with are we talking about, exactly?

Uhh, let's see...

[She rustles with some papers offscreen, then reads off of one]

Paired off in houses during a blizzard, where the only option to stay warm is to huddle together, and there are monsters outside... people turning into monsters... waking up with assigned plants to take care of, that later turn into flesh eating monsters... being made to sing love songs against our will...

I can go on, but I think you get the picture. There's a timeline of events with the brochure in the library.

... ah. I... I see. That's, uh. Rather a lot of monsters, isn't it?

Well, recently it's been less monsters and more... messing with our heads, but yeah.

That's... not really an eventuality I had planned for.
