Homeless Plant

[The emptiness of her temple after the opening ceremony's been getting to her. It's the Temple of Zephyr, and yet it isn't the Temple. There aren't the usual sounds. No priests randomly stumbling into her room in an inebriated state or slipping in to cuddle. No laughter, talking, and other activity. Just quiet emptiness. Oh my! Am I truly seeing a hybrid of flora and homo sapiens traits?

I must offer you my greatest apologies for my lack of familiarity with those words. But if I was to suppose at their meanings, I would answer that I am human as well as plant.

Amazing! Papi and I had made such a creature our aim, but to find one in the flesh, and here! How thrilling! However was it done?

Ah, but again, I neglect my manners in my excitement! Do forgive me. I am Vitalia Ruiz Asención. I, too, am a hybrid, though not of such novelty as yourself! [She removes her shawl, revealing her external gills.]

In the land I hail from, my nature would be more ordinary by virtue of being merely one of many extraordinary manifestations. The hair was a simple accident of Chaos, but then my Goddess Zephyr granted me the rest.

I am Melia, priest of Zephyr, she who walks in Chaos while bringing the spring and joy.

Goddess? [Her smile quirks slightly] I certainly had never heard of such a deity.

Oh, you must hail from one of the worlds I have heard of where the gods are inactive or even possibly nonexistent.

Ah! You mean there is a supernatural being which takes an active role in your world's affairs? It is as you say for my own world: God exists merely as some sort of fairy tale, used by the frightened and weak-minded as a justification to limit the advancement of science merely because it enters territory they find uncomfortable and difficult to understand.

A multitude of them, that can prove rather too meddlesome for the people's good. Too many teach dependency and obedience.

Ah, yes, that does sound quite accurate. [Vitalia: Does not approve of this deity business. Her deity is Papi SCIENCE!]

There are reasons Zephyr does not find much popularity with those gods.

Hmm, I do see why that would be an undesirable trait... It makes things rather difficult.

But it brings forth new possibilities. The stagnant shackles of ages broken.
