Shipping

I don't watch Castle so I don't ship their characters-although I think my sister might. Anyway I read an article yesterday from the shows producers/writers that said that after 4 years of sexual tension etc. they felt it was time to see how the characters would grow and morph once they were in a relationship. The premise was they could have a lot more fun with these characters and while the relationship wouldn't be all sunshine and romance that they would be lousy writers if they couldn't make the next progression in their relationship fun, entertaining, and interesting. They go on to say it was almost past time to do it, and spending any more time on the tease just took away from the endgame. Oh how I wish Gary Glasburg would read that and rethink his position on Tony and Ziva. They have been throwing them together and at us for 7 years. It is sooooo time to either put them together and have fun with it (they are pretty interesting characters after all or so the ratings say) as a secondary and non threatening mostly offscreen part of the drama or just walk away from the whole thing and lose the viewership that has been sucked into the Tiva thing just because the writers and producers can't decide whether to leave it alone or move forward. It really is becoming ridiculous. So I salute the folks at Castle for taking the big scary step. If you notice there are plenty of shows that allow their ship to sail-Burn Notice, Leverage, Castle to name a few. I have to agree there must be a lot more material to work with when you change the dynamic just a little bit by allowing characters to see where their relationship might lead rather than just tease tease tease. If it fails then the Moonlighting Curse prevails (although the Moonlighting actors couldn't stand each other and Willis was desperate to get out of the show and it was already in the toilet when they tried it but....)but if it makes the show more interesting, gives the writers some new dialog and fresh energy; well good for them. Good luck to Castle and their ship. Maybe I should start watching that show instead?
