Saw Skyfall!

Enjoyed it waaaay more than any other Bond film I've seen, but honestly the Bond films aren't really what stirs my tea, so maybe that's not saying a lot. DEFINITELY ENJOYED IT ENOUGH TO BLAB ABOUT UNDER THE CUT!

  • Holy fuck Javier Bardem. Hoooooooooooly fuck. When he first showed up on screen I was severely side-eyeing that dye job, but I think it's another side-effect of the failed cyanide poisoning? It was meant to resonate as WRONG, WRONG, SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG, which worked once you knew that there actually was something wrong.
  • Also shipped them for, like, .2 seconds and then he shot that poor woman. WHO WAS REALLY GOOD AT LOOKING TERRIFIED, A+++. I just wished when Bond creeped up on her in the shower that she'd given him a good swipe with her nail-claws, who the hell wouldn't, especially with how jumpy she was?
  • But no, really, if I'm shipping anyone in this film it's going to be Bond/M. No regrets, no fucks given. Leave your judging at the door.
  • (I'm usually pretty on-board with the ships everyone else is shipping, but I don't know if I can see Bond/Q just yet. Idk, Ben Wishaw doesn't...there's something about him that doesn't quite do it for me. I wanted a little more character from Q, more quirks beyond young-and-good-at-his-job.)
  • MONEYPENNY WAS ACE. LOVE THAT THEY MADE HER A BADASS, KIND OF...TRYING NOT TO BE PISSED THAT THEY HAD HER CHOOSE A DESK JOB INSTEAD OF STAYING AWESOME FIELD AGENT, I UNDERSTAND THAT'S MONEYPENNY'S CANON JOB BUT. WAH.
  • Why Voldemort why
  • I understand why M died. Like, I understand that her character would accept this as one of the better ways to go, dying in a blaze of glory in the arms of her best decision instead of being forced into retirement and called a failure. BUT JUDI DENCH ;______;
  • YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY SCOTLAND YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
  • I also liked how they cut the gadgets to the bare minimum, it was a great, GREAT choice. A) proved that they could get shit done without it, b) proved that people were the key component in spywork, c) no foreshadowing into things that might go down to require trousers that turn into jam exploding pens, d) the Bond movies being on the cutting edge of technology all the time means that they don't age well. We watched a Pierce Brosnan bond movie the other day and everyone was SO EXCITED about the new Global Positioning System askjfalksjfk. ...Yeah.

OVERALL THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THE MOVIE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! :DD
