but then you can't play in the band

The Alaska State Fair has started up again (woot!)--we went yesterday, opening night, and already I have eaten almost half of my list of Must Have Fair Foods. As boring as it sounds, the parmesan garlic pretzel with cheese is right on the tippy top of the list. I might have another one today.

Ah yes, going again today, and again tomorrow, because Mom is playing in 6 different bands and we like a) supporting her, b) the fair. ALSO today is our very own family band, which somehow got a half hour gig thanks to our rendition of Your Love Is by Paul & Storm.

Yeah, we are super cool. Rounding out our set this afternoon we will be singing such gems as 500 Miles, Man of the Hour, and Rambling Rover, because we are nothing if not random. We also have a song about how hard it is being a pirate and losing all your important pieces (and yes I do mean all).

In awesome news, THERE IS A NEW PIRATE BOOTH AT THE FAIR, and therefore MEN WANDERING AROUND DRESSED AS PIRATES, and one of them is a dead ringer for Captain Jack Sparrow except TALLER. I made an absolute idiot of myself when I saw him yesterday. Almost fell out of the risers. LUCKILY HE DIDN'T SEE ME, so perhaps today I will find the courage to accost him and ask for a picture. (But probably not, as I am a wuss.)

In other awesome news there is a circus performing twice daily and hoooooodamn, there is a guy who does tricks with a ladder who I want to kidnap, because he does the whole thing dressed as sort of Dr. Who Casual, with a bowtie and tight tweed pants and a white button up with the sleeves shoved to his elbows and floppy brown hair and I want one, okay? I want one more than I want hand-dipped corn dogs and fresh elephant ears. ♥____________♥

Soooo. Have fun doing what sane people do on their weekends, bbs, and I'll try to get you a picture of the 800+ pound pumkin. :D

good eats, alaska: we're cool, do i really need a real life tag?, doctor who
