SOOOO. CAMPING.
When we started packing everything up, the day looked like this:
Rain, rain rain rain rain. Rain. But look at all the pretty fireweed in my backyard!
Anyway, packing. This is how we pack for 4 people for 3 days:
Plus all the shit in the van and the canoe.
This is our tent:
It sleeps nine. We call it the Taj Mahal.
This is how we build a place to stay dry.
Well, one of the incarnations of the tarp this year. We altered it after the tree fell and nearly hit someone. Twice.
This is how to pick blueberries. Step one: Find blueberries.
Step two: shove berry picker into blueberry bush.
Step three: as you withdraw the picker, the twigs and things go through the comb bit and leave the berries.
Step four: kick back berry picker, berries go into the bucket bit so they don't fall out.
Step five: , RINSE, REPEAT, til you can't pick no mo.
And then you make blueberry pancakes.
OMNOMNOMNOM.
*whips out the tourist microphone* We had a lot of unexpected visitors this year. Such as the common loons...
The beaver...
(although the beaver is kind of understandable seeing as we'd left our drinks in his dam...
)
Aaaaaaand the caribou.
(left this one kinda big so you can see the caribou along the ridge--sorry my zoom is for shit.)
Also the common dog:
Poor babies, they were wiped out by the end of the weekend. p.s. the orange pants belong to my father. ...yup.
Random artsy shots...
Oh, and if you wre wondering, this is how we bring all of our stuff to camp:
BAAAAARGE.
If you want to check out any of these pics in bigger formats (the animal ones especially) the gallery is
hurr.
Somehow I managed to get a little sunburnt on my face, which should tell you how easily I burn, not how sunny it actually was.
Doot doot doot doo, now I have to go make dinner for the evil grandmother. Enjoy, bbs!
