FILLED: #10, Steve/Danny "Ease Into It" 1/2linnet_melodyFebruary 14 2011, 22:36:04 UTC
THIS DID NOT DO WHAT I WANTED. I WANNA FIX IT. BUT IT'S MY FIRST H50 FIC SINCE YOU GOT ME BLOODY WELL HOOKED. <3
"Ease Into It"
It's not that Steve doesn't understand the concept. Danny is pretty-damn-sure that, as an American citizen who was obligated by the U.S. government to travel to all kinds of places in the world and give heartfelt, shining, sometimes grease-paint-covered examples of "Our Way of Life," Steve knows what the hell Valentine's Day means. He's just not sure Steve knows how to feel it

For the next few minutes Danny just watches as Steve stares at the construction paper depiction of himself, Grace, Danny, Chin, and Kona. Kona's little stick figure is flying through the air mid-roundhouse, Chin's propped up all king-like with computer gadgets around him, and Danny's crouched in the bushes guarding Princess Grace, with Steve (in complete Rambo gear) standing protectively over them. At the bottom, in curvy blue beginner-cursive, are the words "Thank you for being there for us. I love you."
Gracie's still rattling on about the colors she used, and about how hard it is to draw a table with a computer inside, since it just looks like, yanno, a table and Danny's positive Steve doesn't hear a word of it. His lips are pinched tight and his crows' feet are a little pronounced, and he swallows twice more before reaching out to ruffle Grace's bangs. "Love you too, kiddo," he finally manages

FILLED: #16, Sam/Dean, UnconditionalelliemurasakiApril 13 2011, 14:54:12 UTC
Sam got in some trouble at Stanford-drunk and disorderly, nothing major, but it did mean he had to spend the night in a jail cell with Brady. Dean would at least have been entertaining

They had made of one bed a makeshift weapons table. It was strewn with guns, assembled and disassembled. Knives, sheathed and glinting unsheathed. They were cleaning and oiling and sharpening; Dean, focused and perched on the far end, the short side of the bed, one foot on the floor keeping time to the song in his head, Sam, numbed past boredom, was pressed up against the headboard on the other end, socked feet up on the mattress. They had been at it for hours, the sun beginning to set behind the ratty motel curtains, the unwashed glass greying out with the dying light
