There are tons of deer in my neighborhood, tons. It amazes me how many thrive in our little developed area (ok, we are truly on the border of woods). I think they get a personal kick out of destroying everyone's tulips. But, they continue to be quite at ease living amongst us,
neverminding when we drive by.
However, it is rare to get too close an encouter, especially during the day.
Today, as I was so wonderfully weeding, three came up through the yard.
They walked so elegantly, taking their time, and, I think,
somewhat snubbing me for digging in the dirt. They checked me out; I returned the favor,
acknowledging their quiet presence. All in all, they spent a good ten minutes meandering
(I say meandering although they never went off course)to the edge of the woods, then
across the driveway. Their little hooves (hmmm, is it correctly called hoof on a deer?) tapped lightly on the pavement. After they flipped their fluffy white tails in my direction (how rude), they flitted through the next yard, which being quite barren, offered them no mid-morning
salad buffet. The frog I later found while digging was much friendlier.
Matthew 6:26
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
