But I like the Texas boys. I have gotten more casual male attention in the not-quite two weeks since I moved back than I did for most of the 11 years I lived in Chicago.
On Monday night, when I went back to Loew's w/ Mom to pick up the chairs we'd bought on Sunday, they weren't ready yet (as of last night, the chairs still weren't ready. I'll do more on that saga in a separate post). The man who helped us appeared to be 38-42. As we were leaving, he made a comment about how pretty I was. I smiled and thanked him, and we left.
Between that interaction and the ones from Sunday, I began to wonder: Why do men in Texas feel so much freer to pay compliments and flirt?
Great_Eye and Good Texan used to tell me routinely that I was geographically doomed in Chicago and that I'd only have a shot at finding a good match if I returned to Texas. I used to think "that's a little too National Geographic for me--I'm not a salmon who must return to my home stream to spawn, after all." Now, I'm wondering if they weren't right!
