UGH. I feel like I've been BETRAYED.
BY BADGELY MISCHKA'S FLEURS DE NUIT.
It started so well! I sprayed it on yesterday and was engulfed in a pretty, floral-amber-woody scent that was, to be honest, immediately more overpowering than I had remembered it being. But alright, it was A LOT of scent, but it was still NICE! And then it all fell apart. The amber notes almost immediately burned off and what I was left with was WAXY WHITE FLOWERS. I mean, I don't know if it's a proper perfume review term, but me and my coworker both agreed that the best word for the smell was WAXY. And BIG. Like I was wearing a big bunch of waxy flowers strapped to each wrist. Where did the amber and wood go? And it was apparently supposed to have bergamot in it also, but I didn't get any of that. So anyway, I spent a few hours hating the way I smelled, but then the drydown got a LITTLE better. The waxiness softened up and the whole scent went kind of powdery and dry, and maybe a hint of that woodiness came back, but still not enough to take away from the florals.
SIGH. So disappointing! Overall something that I would NEVER wear. But it smelled so nice on paper!
Today I'm trying on Thierry Mugler's Alien Sunessance, because it reminds me just a TAD of a more sophisticated version of my CKOne Summer (the now defunct orange edition). Hope this goes better! I remain ever optimistic.
