I walked down the street today and saw an Obama campaign sign in the window. Underneath it, on white poster board and in black sharpie was a another sign "Oh yes we f-ing did". I thought it was funny.
I was in a lecture today with Jack Welch as the guest speaker. He leaded off talking about the election, saying that Obama's campaign had three major management lessons:
1. Start with a clear, concise vision. (Change). Then, repeat, repeat, repeat.
2. Show what execution is all about. Do it by putting together the smartest, most cohesive team possible. While Hillary was out campaigning the states who were already supporting her anyway, but Obama did new market management- going for the caucus states and the superdelegates.
3. Have friends in high places. Obama was a media darling from the start, and they emphasized his successes and downplayed his failures. You have to have your board's buy-in. McCain took the media by surprise when he picked Sarah Palin, and they paid him back for it.
That's all. I don't really get much into politics, but I thought that was really interesting. Oh, and Jack thinks the economy is going to get much worse before it gets better. Just one man's opinion, but you have to give a little credit to the man.
However, I hope Sarah Palin doesn't return to obscurity in Alaska. All the SNL skits have been the funniest pieces I've seen in long, long time. NOW where am I going to get my entertainment? Let's hope, per the last SNL skit, she becomes the next "White Oprah".
