I'm currently sitting in the Oakland Airport enjoying free wi-fi. Really, more airports need to adopt the wi-fi practice. Anyhow, let me ramble a little bit about my new found love for Southwest.
The last time I took Southwest I think I was in high school. The seats were ugly and scratchy and the plastic tickets were weird. Fast forward to now. They have comfortable leather seats, an organized way of getting people on the plane without assigned seating, plug-in outlets galore at their gates (plus a few plush leather seats and "bar" areas to sit and down work. Joel travels a lot of work and had 3 free tickets. So I took one of them this past weekend and flew out to the Bay Area. I even wanted to reschedule my trip at one point and that was no problem for Southwest. I could change dates, destinations, whatever- without any service charges. There are no baggage fees. They don't charge for sodas (unlike United and US Airways) and they hand out peanuts AND pretzels to all passengers. Most importantly though, the people are really friendly. In the currentl world of struggling airlines, Southwest has a great business plan for quick plane turnaround for maximum efficiency and keeping customers happy. I'm sold.
This past weekend I also went to a fobby hair salon (Cali Hair) thinking "Asian people know asian hair- I should go there, they know what they're doing". Except....go into a fobby hair salon, come out with fobby looking hair. Arugh. The woman just sheared/layered the crap out of my hair (no, I don't have a bowl cut). It's only hair and it'll grow back, but it just reminds me again why I should be more specific with people I entrust shears to.
