I just returned from Panajachel - LAKE ATITLAN!!! It was unbelievable. Pictures don't do it justice, but I took so many anyway.
We also visited a clinic in a small village called Santiago. It's amazing what resources we take for granted in the states, but I'm impressed with what progress, though scarce, is actually happening.
In Panajachel/Solo La, I ate at a place called Bombay Cafe. vegan key lime pie, pud thai, and tofu scramble! Mmmm. Why doesn't every city have one of these...
We watched a Mayan ritual ceremony, and some boys performed for us a traditional Mayan dance involving Spanish conquistadors and a bull. It seems extremely representative of their feelings toward colonialism, as the bull always wins in the dances!
They don't sell beer past 7pm on Sundays so I'm going to jet and get some rest. We have 3 or 4 seminars tomorrow anyways.
