hola!
i'm in antigua, guatemala. it's wonderful here. the homestay is wonderful. walking everyone on cobblestone streets, minus the painful ankles, is wonderful. hmmm, what else. we have gone to many catholic ruins, played with mayan/indigenous children, taken salsa lessons, gone to a seminar on the education system in guatemala and a seminar on the Pan-American Health Organization, etc...
i'm eager to begin school, but i'm unbelievably comfortable here... i feel unfit with the group, which has made me homesick for the group i went to vietnam with. however, i am seriously considering coming back for 2-3 months next summer. i'm disappointed i missed a peace march today, which would have been such an experience. people were marching for violence to end here in guatemala. i want to stay exactly where i'm staying and spend the time in one of their amazing spanish language school as well as learning how to shake my hips a little better (salsa). there are plenty of backpackers, and central america is such a place... i'm motivated to travel throughout. of course i'll plan my schedule around graduate school.
i am just excited. damn excited.
