We just got back from a wonderful 12-day vacation to Montreal; Quebec and surrounding areas; Burlington, Waterbury, and Middlebury, Vermont; and Westport and Lake Placid, New York.
No time for a long recap, but here are the highlights:
- Having two dinners almost everyday while in Montreal
- Sampling tapas at Pintxo in Montreal - the duck confit in mushroom caps and the baby squid with onion confit on a slice of potato were both incredible
- Trying poutine with foie gras at Au Pied de Cochon in Montreal
- Seeing the best penguin display ever at the Biodome in Montreal
- Finding the world's most perfect thin crust pizza at Portofino in Quebec City
- Getting to have the world's most perfect thin crust pizza (with just anchovies, mozzarella and tomato sauce) two nights in a row
- Seeing two nice waterfalls and getting some nature and walking into my life
- Getting the good news that I won an $20 million appeal for our client (okay, this is more work-related, but it happened while I was on vacation)
- Finding some great deals on clothes I can wear to work
- Visiting the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory and trying three different (and new to us) flavors in the span of an hour -- a free sample of Creme Brulee, a cone of Dublin Mudslide, and a pint of Vermonty Python
- Meeting 3 of Monty's dear friends from college
- Getting to try my hand at being an amateur wedding photographer at a very non-traditional wedding
- Having great Greek food in Lake Placid
- Finding 10 new rubber duckies I had never seen before in Middlebury, Vermont
- Not going to a single museum all trip
I can't wait to go on another vacation.
