In the slipstream of thoughtless thoughts.....

Don't you just love the resiliance of music?
Yes be warned now - I am about to embark on yet another rant about music and why I love it so.

So I was watching this doco on the blues today (that I taped last week), and it just reiterated the fact that music is as a dynamic and resiliant as the environment or outer space.
The blues greats of yester year certainly paved the way for music of today and we can do nothing but turn to them and thank them for the path they forged. I don't think any real self proclaimed music lover can stake that claim without having some sort of knowledge of the genre of blues and having a commanded respect for the simplicity of lyrics and the extreme complexity of the music itself. The emotion and deep inner place that this music came from. I know a little but I think I need to know more. This particular doco focussed on J.B. Lenoir and Skip James, both outstanding and well respected blues musicians.
The saying is so very true - "you learn something new every day".

I also watched Enough Rope with Andrew Denton that I taped last week too. It was about the 5 McCartney sisters from Belfast, whos brother Robert, was brutally murdered by IRA people in a pub this year. Instead of bowing to the intimidation and death threats to keep quiet about the whole affair, these five women and Robert's fiance, have stood up, told the world and hope to bring these men to justice. I admire them greatly and I hope that their quest for justice is fulfilled. It has certainly opened my eyes more to just the extend of sectarianism in Northern Ireland. Of course I've known about it for years - what with the all the IRA bombings in the 80s/90s and with the July 12th marches, but this has just opened my eyes a little more.

In other news I got a new car stereo on Thursday!!! I am so damn excited. It means no more carrying my discman or walkman everywhere in order to listen to a cd or the radio. And this particular car stereo plays mp3s and wma. It was exactly what I was looking for and I love it!! (and a resonable price too) JB, you've done it again!!

Wasn't feeling the best today - a little bit achey, very tired and a bit hot and cold. But it doesn't feel too extreme yet. I'm hoping I'm not getting sick, but who knows. I didn't work today - which is just as well as Emma was on and I don't think I could work with her again today after having a go at her last night. I am so extremely happy to hear that she is leaving after stocktake, which is this week! HOORAH!!
I will jumping for joy come friday when she leaves. She has categorically been the worst store manager in the history of the place. I should know! I'd even go as far as saying that she is worse than Max and that is saying a hell of a lot! Well I have stocktake 5pm-12am Mon, Tues, Wed which probably means 5-2am! Urgh and I gotta get up and be at tafe on all of those days - I don't think I am going to be able to function as a human being this week. Time will tell.
