When I got up for work at 5 this morning, there was a smoke alarm going off in one of the condos in our complex block. While I was walking to work, two firetrucks came screaming down the street, headed in the direction I'd come from. It was worrying. A few blocks later I heard the distinctive rumble of firetruck engines coming up behind me, returning to the station. Sweet, sweet relief.
The stupid smoke detector is still beeping, more than fourteen hours later. It's making me twitch.
In completely different news, I've recently done some research about ear gauging, and it turns out that my ears were pierced, way back in 1995, with 16-gauge posts. I'm not going to lie, this makes the thought of gauging up a little more enticing. Hrm.
