It went by so fast
It seems like only last week I was posting about how I'm going to India and how much I am dreading it. Well...whaddya know. I'm leaving on SUNDAY. Time is flying because I just can't get all my work done before I leave. I have projects waiting to be sent out, an apartment to find, appointments to arrange, classes to finalize and other such crap that I have not yet remembered. Luckily this week some major stuff got done. I DID find an apartment. It was such a stress because the place I'm trying to rent is freakishly selective and they didn't want to rent to undergraduates. Luckily I sent enough letters and begged enough to get a room. I haven't seen this room but I did see the house. The place is already furnished and it's so purdy. The room I got has Wonder Women memorablilia. The rent is mad cheap too. $425 a MONTH for EVERYTHING. It was worth the fight to get it.
I am right now scrambling to get all my internet related work done because my dad is cancelling the internet today or tomorrow. He's also putting a hold on the phones too because it's a waste to pay for a month of use when we will be India and just not using them.
I really don't want to go to India. It's beautiful and all but this is not the right time. Too much stuff is going on and it's so late in the summer to be going. It's going to hot as hell there and it's also MONSOON season. So hot + wet = irritated Nimmy and prime malaria conditions. This time we have an actual home built for us there but last time we called it wasn't complete yet. Damn Lazy Indians...I better have a toilet. That's all I want...a Western toilet. Indian toilets are ridiculous...freakin holes in the ground and you have to perilously crouch with your ass over it fearing the appearance of snakes or the possibility of me slipping in. It would be a different experience if my home was in a city but my family is from the farmland..the jungle regions..the BOONIES. Last time I went was three years ago and my cousins JUST got electricity and a toilet and there are very few paved roads. A few months ago they got a PHONE. Dude...it's like OUT THERE. It's incredibly beautiful but once you realize you are stuck for a MONTH there with swarms of mosquitoes, inadequate waste disposal, frequent blackouts, and the worst.....MY PARENTS. blah..kill me now. God I'm trying to look at the bright side but man it's bleak. This is not the right time in my life to go...I have too many loose threads ...And did I mention that I got a STY in my eye? It's not that noticeable but it's like annoying and I just got approved to wear contacts but the doc wont give it to me b/c of the sty. Damnit. I hate wearing glasses in hot weather..this better go away soon.
oh well..I'll be back August 19 or 20. The way back is longer cuz we gotta do a layover in Kuwait. Did I mention I dont' want to go?
