Hei is being an incredible dick this series episode. Like, wow. I understand he's had a shitty time between the end of season one and the start of season two but yikes. I think he's hit Suou at least three times since they met. Even Mao has been like "man chill ._.".
Somebody's gonna have to curb his drinking. He's proved he's still a bad ass. He can still fight but he's just mean now. He's meaner now that he's lost his powers than when he was being the Black Reaper.
That being said, I could still do without the sparkles and some of the comedy but... I think I'm sticking around. There are some things that bug me but overall I'm getting into it. I want to know what's going on, is Hei's power really gone or just dormant, what happened to Yin, and all those other burning questions that keep popping up.
There was something HORRIBLY wrong about Hei watching a 13 or so year old girl belly dance. Even if she has clothes on. Even if he's trying to get her to strengthen her core muscles.
There was something hilarious about Hei throwing flying squirrel Mao towards someone as a diversion. SQUIRRELDOUKEN.
THERE'S BEEN AN AWFUL LOT OF BAD TOUCHES IN THIS SERIES SO FAR. Hei grabbing thirteen year old boobage, now Misaki being molested (lol "why are you saving your virginity for BK-201" what she totally already lost it to November 11. JUST SAYING dur hur :B)
That being said, this episode was really a treasure trove of screenshots. For me, anyways, given that I really do love July. Which is kind of weird because.... he doesn't do anything except give people locations.
There is now an official beater of ugly cross dressing guy from Cowboy Bebop.
"Smile." "Smiling is not in my programming."
I just... want July to stay with them forever. With my luck he'll either turn out to be working with someone else that lets them track Hei/Suou or he'll end up dying. Probably dying. Or both.
This is a definite throwback to Yin learning how to smile. Dolls aren't supposed to have emotions; they're just programmed to do their tasks. But in the last season Yin had a lot of moments where she acted normal and even July considered November 11 and April his companions. I think they're showing senses of humor which means they're just as normal even with their programming.
