Remember way back when gangster rap was easy? You had your East Side and you had your West Side, The lines were drawn and everyone knew who side you were on. Biggie along with Junior Mafia, and Puffy Daddy before he was P Diddy, made up the east side, and Dr. Dre, Snoop doggy dog, and Tu Pac were clearly on the left side. Then all hell breaks ( Read more... )

Joe, you've left out a major player in the game now. the "Dirty south" which includes, but is not exclusive to "hotlanta," and st. louis (among other places). This is like neglecting in mentioning the Jews when talking about WWII. Seriously, the dirty south is a major player in the rap game now, you have Jermaine Dupri (JD), nelly and the st. lunatics just to name a few. Then you can't forget about criag david, whom is british if i remember correctly, and red and meth, who are both from staten island NYC, but never got into the east-west shit. then there is lil' bow wow, and lil' romeo, and lil' kim. Kim is down with bad boy, but romeo and bow wow have no true alliances in this battle, as of yet. much like big tobacco, the young ones must be recruited. granted bow wow is snoops nephew, he is still minus a side. he is a "man" without a country. also in the dirty south is bubba sparxxx, and his contibution "ugly," along with peetey pablo and he's raisin' up for this battle. also included in that is timberland, who has worked with both peety pab and bubba, thus included in the dirty south by transitive powers of association. now what about eve, who is from philly? thats east coast and could be dirty south aswell. and she was involved with biggy before "someone busted a cap in his ass." so that makes her west-side by association, along with being on a side of east-coast and dirty south all in one. perhaps eve will play the role of helen of troy, only the tag line will read "the ghetto ass that launched one million bullets," rather than the "The face that launched 1000 ships," as was the case with helen of troy. I've gone on quite the rant here, just some more rap alliances to ponder.

meth was wu-tang if memory serves me correctly, which would also be East Coast no? and i wouldn't consider philly to be dirty south, that's still east. Def Jam is all east w/ the exception of their def jam sout wing which includes Ludacris and a couple others.
