Reading too many ghost stories will do that to you ...

Quite day today pottering around the flat and putting up the curtains the nice lady with the shop up the road has put proper heading tape on for me.

As a thank you for all the help themadblonde gave me with the library lists I have been collecting a few books she wants to read, and various other nice things, to put in a care package. Before I put the package together I have been reading the books: 'Haunted Lowestoft' and 'Norfolk Stories of the Supernatural'. She already has 'Haunted Suffolk'!

Now I know you know about the Black Shuck we have here in Suffolk. He's the devil dog, who if you see him, means someone is going to die. He is also (however) said to be friendly, let you stroke him, and be a protector to women and escort them home when they have been out late at night. The Darkness wrote a noisy song you can't hear the lyrics to which you'll find on YouTube. There are also several websites on him out there.

Anyway, one of my neighbours here in Lowestoft has a very old (15 years apparently) black Staffie who sometimes gets out of her flat and who wanders around. She is extremely rheumatic, has cataracts, and has a lot of grey and white hair. He also still thinks he is a puppy and is very playful and likes me as I often have bits of chicken or steak to hand out!

Last night I was doing what I usually do to keep the temperature down in here and had the door and all the windows open. I heard scuffling but thought it was Tiresias. It wasn't.

When I turned round from kneeling on the floor tidying up more bags of rubbish I met the lolling tongue and waggy tail and shining white eyes of my neighbours dog. For a moment I thought I'd got the Black Shuck in my flat. Then I realised who it was and shooed her out as I don't want doggy in my flat to make me wheeze!
