This is the Romanesque font in St James Church, Avebury - Christ (with his hand raised in benediciton and holding a Bible)between two serpents. This is interesting considering the stone circle at Avebury has the two avenues of stone running to and from it ... Having got into Stargate since my Children of the Stones days I also thought 'Prior!' when I looked at that picture again, but in fact the figure is not holding a crozier and it's just part of the decoration apparently. The creatures look a bit like Green Dragons though methinks, the writers of the book about the Michael/Mary Leyline The Sun and the Serpent got excited in that way too.
Here we have the church's Rood Screen. The top half is original, possibly hidden during The Reformation and found during work on the arch above it.
