The Infinity Gauntlet

I just finished reading The Infinity Gauntlet event from the early '90s and I now have some theories about what the next Avengers movie is going to look like.

And why it was probably very necessary for them to do a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Still can't figure out Ant Man, but that's beside the point.

[Spoilers for Infinity Gauntlet and Theories about how Avengers 2 will go down]
Basically, if Whedon's still on the project, he's gonna have a lot of fun. Spoilers for The Infinity Gauntlet.

Team kill.

Total fucking team kill.

Everyone dies.

Terribly.

In fact, in The Infinity Gauntlet, Tony gets his head ripped off. They probably won't go there in the film, but um, yeah. Everyone dies.

Here are some other things I think are going to happen:

- Thanos is already canon and the Infinity Gauntlet was shown in Odin's trophy room, so that whole storyline is a go.

- They'll nerf the Infinity Gauntlet and tie it into the MCU as cleanly as possible, but that won't be enough.

- Whedon (if he's still on the project by then) will incorporate Nebula somehow, because I think he'd be really interested in playing with her story (abuse, followed by unrivaled power and the ability to strike back at the one who abused her).

- I'm thinking Loki will play a role somewhere between Mephisto and Eros, assuming neither of those guys are made characters between now and Avengers 2. He'll pretend to be on Thanos' side, appeal to his ego, and his death while trying to take the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos will complete his story arch.

- Did I mention the part where everyone dies?

So yeah, I basically want to see this movie and I want it to be good and I don't want the Earth to get swallowed up by a black hole or anything within the next three years (or ever).

avengers, marvel, holy shit
