1. Hello and welcome to everyone who's friended this journal recently!!  :D  My (slightly out-of-date) personal info can be found here, and my contact info can be found here.  Make yourself at home, and feel free to ask any questions!  ;-)

2. I'm sorry for not being as around as I'd like to be; I really haven't been in a good headspace lately, and ( Read more... )

I could recommend a ton of people off that list, but these two I absolutely love:
C.J. Cherryh (especially Rusalka trilogy and Hammerfall duology)
Elizabeth Bear (epecially Dust trilogy)

Both write sci-fi with a dash of fantasy.
And even though she isn't on that list, I will forever recommend Sarah Monette to anyone and everyone.

That aside, I hope your summer takes a turn for the better soon. It really sucks to have months and months to yourself with nothing but depressing thoughts. 8(
I'd suggest that you not get so hung-up on getting some sort of life-defining summer job, and just enjoy your time off.

Thank you so much for the recs! I already have a ton of books on my backlog, but I'll be sure to check them out at some point. ;-)

It's really hard for me to do much of anything over the summer -- even if I had a license, I don't have my own car, and anything I do would have to revolve around my parents' schedules, and both of them are very busy. Oh yeah, and public transportation around here sucks. :/ Plus, I plan on getting myself checked out for possible mental health problems this summer as well, so there's that.

But yeah, I've definitely been trying to enjoy my time off -- and I have until the first week of September too, so that's good. Thanks for the advice! XD And honestly, it's not as if it's been all that boring anyway. ^_^;

1. How did you get into Transformers? What are your favorite/least favorite continuities?
2. What is the one place in the world/universe that you've always wanted to visit (but never had the chance)?
3. What is the strangest thing you've ever done in your life?
4. What character (in any fandom) do you think you're most like?
5. If you were stuck on a desert island, what three books would you have with you?

I've really only read one book by her, but I really want to read more. :D

3. What is the strangest thing you've ever done in your life?
4. If you suddenly received $10 billion, and you had to spend it all (you couldn't save any of it), what would you spend it on?
5. If there was one person you could bring back from the dead so that you could ask them one question, who would you bring back, and what would you ask them?

Yeah, job envy totally sucks. :/ I know I shouldn't compare myself to other people and what they're doing, but that would require getting off Facebook, which isn't something I'm willing to do right now. Oh well, like I said, it's something, and I'm sure the job situation will work itself out sooner or later. Yay for being in the same boat....I guess? ^_^;

I really like ontd_feminism; it's exactly like the secret describes, but having it on my f-list is so worth it. :D

Thanks for the rec! And I believe we already have had this discussion, but yes, I've never read Harry Potter, and I don't plan on it anytime soon. 8D
