Three Lesbians, a Beagle, and One Bed

So, friend Alex's parents are away, as is her roommate.  In order to make her feel less lonely, we had a slumber party on Friday night, at my urging.  I'm not exactly sure why I thought a slumber party with three grown women was appropriate or normal, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Here is the elite list of slumber party invitees:

Me
Alex
Nic (Alex's BFF, former roommate, and ex- ... don't ask, somehow they make it work ... most of the time)
Higgins (Alex's roommate's dog)
Jovi (Alex's beagle)

Alex had something to do until 9:30-ish so Nic and I met up first to do some shopping, get a DVD to watch, and purchase the ingredients to make lemon bars.  We went to Alex's house and had to break in (it's okay, Nic is Black, she knows how to do such things) and started making the lemon bars (Nic was making the crust and I was making the lemony topping) and Alex comes home to find us baking together, the perfect picture of domestic lesbian bliss.  Somehow, we spend the rest of the night eating lemon bars and talking and never actually got around  to watching the DVD.

At some point, we all got tired and decided to go to bed.  Now, Alex lives in a big-ass house, and I am sure that with her parents and roommate gone, there were plenty of extra beds available, but at the time, it seemed like a really good idea for the three of us to sleep in Alex's king-sized bed.  Sadly, we weren't even drinking.  Of course, Jovi doesn't want to be left out of the lesbian lovefest, so Alex made her a little sleeping spot in one corner.  Nicole took one side of the bed, Alex took the other, and I got stuck in the middle.  Okay, I say "got stuck," like it's a bad thing, but Alex and Nic are both extremely attractive, so I suppose I should consider myself lucky.

Alex decides to read us a "bedtime story," which means that she reads to us from the latest issue of Us Weekly, while interjecting her own color commentary so seamlessly that it seemed like it was really part of the magazine.  At one point, Shakira is mentioned and Alex does a Shakira impersonation, which was pretty fucking funny, although not quite as funny as me trying to climb over Alex to get to the bathroom and somehow managing to fall out of bed onto the floor.  After about 15 pages of Heidi and Spencer, Tom and Katie, Angelina and Brad, we turned off the light and went to sleep.

I happen to be a very light sleeper who has to take an OTC sleep aid on the regular, but for some reason, I failed to take anything that night, which means that I floated in and out of sleep throughout the night.  Alex sleeps like a rock.  In fact, she sleeps so hard that she doesn't remember me waking her up in the middle of the night to complain about how loudly Jovi was snoring.  She also claims to not remember how when I tried to change my sleeping position, she grabbed her pillow and very deliberately set it on top of my bosom and proceeded to fall asleep there.  I was unsure of what to do, but since I couldn't really fall asleep anyhow, I just let her sleep there, feeling strangely maternal towards this grown woman sleeping on my tits.  I stroke her head, in part because I don't know what to do with my arms and in part because I'm feeling all maternal and warm and fuzzy.

Between me feeling really hot, Jovi's snoring, and Alex sleeping on top of me, I didn't get the most restful night's sleep, although it was certainly one of the most interesting night's sleep I'd ever had (well, except for the time at Mills College when a few friends and I drank tequila and smoked pot and then fell asleep together in the same bed and yet, I was the only one who woke up the next morning, completely naked).  Alex woke up first, as the dogs were itching to be fed or be let out or whatever it is that dogs need to do first thing in the morning.  She came back upstairs and we laid in bed and with hushed giggles -- as to not wake up Nicole -- I recounted the adventures of the previous night.  Out of everything that happened, that made me feel the most like I was at a slumber party.
