WMC - Dream A Little Dream - Vs 3.0 Episode 3

Aug 03, 2009 20:07

It was recently brought to my attention that even with all the dissecting of banners and past episodes I did before the VS 3.0 started wmc_vs  (theorizing, trying to figure who Pete really was), I missed one of the biggest clues. Indeed, KMN’s identity  practically spilled out of the sicko’s own mouth.

From episode 2x06 Apostate Blues by : liz_estrada

“I'm not playing some fairy tale game with you. I haven't mocked-up the way I feel,” Pete told her. “I know you a little, Lindsay Boxer. And if you know me at all, you know I don't give up easily.”

Fairy tale game? Fairy. Tale. Game. Are you kidding me? How could I’ve missed that? Lol!

Anyway, there you have it. Pete outing himself as the Kiss Me Not Killer. Okay, so not really but it was a pretty good clue. And the fact that I wouldn’t have noticed it even if it had jumped up and bit me on the nose, is, again, proof positive of the VS crew’s awesomely huge talent. I was reminded once more (not that I needed it but…) the story they are creating is so captivating and masterfully put together that, even hidden in plain sight, what turned out to be a major clue went unnoticed.

When I think about it, though, it made the summer season even more exciting.

From heart wrenching to heart warming, with Methods and Madness, the last episode of the VS 3.0 miniseries, word-wizard, liz_estrada’s  brings the adrenaline-filled three-part ride to a riveting finish. Inspector Lindsay Boxer of the San Francisco Police turns out to be the hero fans always knew she was. She can fight and survive under the direst of circumstances.

The Case:  Is closed. Unless I missed another clue which would not surprise me ;). But for now with Pete KMN Raynor in deep sleep, and until the second part of season 3 when they all deal with aftermath, the case is closed.

Pete Raynor:  This is what happens when writers care; a *yawn* muffin-totting bland love interest evolves into a fascinating, evil, creepy and devious criminal mind, i.e. an interesting character.

The Club: Once again evident is the lengths these women will go to for each other. I think inspector Maggie Snow said it best:  “I swear, you people…”  Heh!

Lindsay and Cindy:  On paper Pete could plan the perfect trap. Invading Lindsay’s dreams, manipulating her thoughts, and planting fake memories. However, he never counted on the strength her love for Cindy would give her. Pete could fabricate the ideal love story in his head but he didn’t understand it because he couldn’t feel it in his heart.

A fact which is perfectly rendered with this passage:

For the life of him, Pete didn’t understand where she got the energy to fight through the drugs, devise an escape, and remain angry enough to bless him with a demon’s tongue. He hadn’t a clue what could fuel such passionate resistance.

A few clues, Pete. Short, red hair, and “…the best girlfriend who ever drew breath.”

The Triangle: Maybe it’s just me wishful thinking but I believe this little exchange shows that Maggie is gaining momentum. :D

After a beat, Jill ducked her head back in. “Maggie? Are you coming or not?”

Snow shuddered a bit. “To Lodi?”

“To find our friends,” Jill clarified, and promptly vanished again.

“One for all, all for one,” Snow muttered, and lit out after Jill.

Tears

“Please look at me,” Lindsay softly asked.

Tears sprang to Cindy's eyes, and she furiously blinked them back. “I can't.”

“Please.”

*sigh* Speaks for itself…

Laughs

Jill palmed her much smaller cell phone and cocked her arm. “Me, too. With the phone throwing.”

“I love you.”

Cindy stopped speaking so quickly, she almost bit her tongue. Her head jerked up and she gaped, utterly dumbfounded, at Lindsay.

“Are you mental?” she asked.

“Yes,” Lindsay confirmed.

Shocks

Without a moment's thought, Lindsay Boxer dove after it.

She leaped from the roof of the Hall of Justice and hung suspended above the street. Her open leather jacket fluttered like bat wings against the wind.

The beginning of this episode is so exceptionally well crafted that until the moment Lindsay jumps into thin air, we can’t be certain if what we are reading is dream or reality.

Lindsay’s replicated teenage bedroom is another ingenious way of exhibiting Pete’s evil methodology.

Extra awww

Almost frantically, Lindsay did the same, but they were still too far apart to even hold hands. Desperate for some bare instant of contact, she laid flat on her back and stretchedout her legs until her filthy, itchy toes grazed Cindy's heel. Cindy pushed off her shoe and pressed the soles of their bare feet together.

They both sighed at the touch, the grubby skin to skin reminder that they would not face danger, or even death, without having known love. Mutual, stupid, fearless love, the want of which sometimes drove men mad.

Now, I wait... patiently. Well as patienlty as an  obsessed fan can.  ;)
