Here we are 2009. Another holiday season come and gone. A little over a week into the New Year, and already every resolution has been broken. Am I right? But one thing, that has thankfully not been broken, is the Women’s Murder Club spell. The powers of the virtual season to entrance and enthrall are still very much intact, especially in this week’s chapter Repeat Offender brought to us by co-writers
darandkerry and
grumpybear1031. In this, the tenth episode of the season, we are treated to some of the most compelling and heart-warming Club interaction since the four women came together in the first JP book.
When her stepfather is arrested, Jill is hit with hunting and devastating childhood memories. In a very thoughtful and carefully-executed manner, the writers explore those recollections. When light is shed on past events, we are given a better understanding of the attorney’s present behavior. However all is not bleak.
Though, through much of this week’s episode sadness seems to reign, there are many bright spots; the bonds that unite this group of friends are, once again, strengthened and Jill is a survivor. She may not get the closure she sought, but in the end, she is reminded that anything can be surmounted if you allow yourself to lean on the people around you. She definitely wins.
And the readers definitely win. Grumpybear and Darandkerry effectively serve a little dose of creepiness when this season’s recurring bad guy or guys - to the virtual season team’s credit, no one can tell anymore - makes or make a couple of surreptitious appearances.
It has truly been a joyful experience to rediscover, and in some cases discover, the writing talents of this VS team; different styles and skills pooling together to create a cohesive story where all the episodes run together smoothly, and yet, each one can stand on its own.
And now we must wait patiently for the final showdown to commence. In the next three episodes, we will be guided to the finish line in what will assuredly be the most explosive season finale of any season, virtual or otherwise.
wmc_vs 1- Every way in which the Club interacted this week was great. Lindsay standing guard when Jill confronts Carter at the police station, Jill confiding in Cindy, Cindy knowing about Claire’s date and Claire Slapping Jill’s mom, and Lindsay along with this week’s honorary member Denise getting Cathy to drop the charges against Claire, Lindsay and Cindy whenever they’re together, Cindy’s soup…all made of win!
2- It was great to have more of a Jill-centric episode
3- Like a lot of other fans, I’m really enjoying the way you’re writing Denise
4- It’s HM it’s not HM- HM is Pete? No, he’s not. There’s someone else I just know it. Nah, there’s not. Ok so those are the questions that go through my mine when I think about the VS. So, it’s frustrating but immensely enjoyable, heh!
5- …the reporter, who always seemed to be around… ß Lol!!!
6- I have already mentioned this but it bears repeating: ““Don’t you ever, and I do mean ever, call Jill again” ß Hot!!!
