In a conversation Mike and I were having about hosting (which is something I have a lot of anxiety about), he asked me what would make me happy, and I said something about the anxiety making me want to hide under a table and not deal with people for hours. He said, "Ok, but I asked you what would make you happy, not what would make you comfortable. If that's what would make you happy, sure!"
I think that's a very important distinction, and a really great example of where this distinction exists. And also why I'm always wary of the notion of something being comfortable. It's great when "happy" and "comfortable" happen to coincide (and often they do), but sometimes "comfortable" is just the easy escape from discomfort.
"Alas, contentment does not seek he, and 'tis not from happiness he flees."
