End of Time - Reaction post

Oh.My.Fucking.God! To those of you who have seen it: you can imagine my state of mind right now. To those of you who are still waiting: don't read the spoilers.

I don't know what you thought of this episode, but I loved it. Some of the most beautiful scenes I've ever seen in a Doctor Who episode. Although I really can't say much about the plot for two reasons: 1)I was too busy re-playing the wasteland scene in my head; 2) the whole episode seemed like a big starting point, with the development expected for the next week.

I was almost crying while the Doctor and Wilf talked in the coffee shop. It was strange to see the Doctor like this: sad, almost broken down, sobbing. But it was beautiful. It's not that I'm a sadist but, maybe for the first time, we see him showing his true age, bearing all the weight on his shoulders, missing all the people he has lost. There, for a moment, I really wept for him.

I laughed with the Silver Cloak gang. Wilf is one of the best supporting characters to ever appear in DW and Minnie the Menace has all my love for groping the Doctor's arse.

I was speechless during that scene in the quarry (c'mon RTD, admit it. You're a slasher like the best of us! Red grass, young love etc etc) and during almost every scene with the Master in it. You have to give it to Simm, he knows how to portray a madman, even when he seems an animal (and a little bit Gollum IMHO).

And every time Timothy Dalton spoke, a shiver ran down my spine. Favorite line: "the madman[...] the savior [...]the idiots and fools.."

In the end, that last scene, with the Time Lords reunited, probably in the Panopticon, was so powerful that, me being me, I exclaimed "Jesus Fuck!" out loud.

Flaws of the episode:
- Donna. Where is Donna in all this? Away, being the perfect fiancée for a plain, common man. I dearly hope they'll make her do something more consistent in the next episode.
- The Master's superpowers and the Secret Book of Saxon (I mean, if there's a Saxon!Master appreciation society, I want to join!)
- Was it really useful and needed to bring Obama in the show?

WTF scene of the episode:
Six billions people becoming the Master. But it was a what-are-you-smoking-I-want-some kind of WTF.

This said, I give it 10/10, if only for the slashy scenes, Wilf and the Time Lords.
I can't wait to see where it is going, because this time I really can't predict nothing.

omgwtfbbq, doctor/master= canon, doctor who, end of time
