Why I Recommend This Vid:
Fanvids are a lot harder for me to rec than fanfic. I mean, with fanfic, I can generally tell you why I love it. Good structure, proper pacing, grasp of characterization, appropriate dialogue: these are some of the reasons. Yet I struggle with 'critiquing' fanvid, though honestly a lot of the criteria (like structure and pacing) are the same. But with fanvid I like, I'm mostly just squeeeee! Anyway, I'll try to do better here. :)
This vid was recently recced to me by a friend, who knew that I'd love it. Maaan, was she right! It's a fairly fast-paced song, which I find in the hands of a lot of vidders leads to too-quick cuts between scenes. Sarismchee does a fabulous job here of letting each moment speak for itself and alternating the pacing between one-beat scenes and three-or-four-beat scenes, giving the vid time to breathe (and the watcher time to appreciate how appropriate each chosen moment is!) The 'story' is simply but beautifully told. And the song combined with all the perfectly selected moments just makes me sigh with happiness.
(This is my first time embedding anything, so let's cross fingers that it works!)
