BPAL reviews galore

Oct 02, 2007 06:27

A bunch of stuff I've been meaning to review, including a few new ones I just got (as I bounced off the walls yesterday...best thing to happen yesterday, in fact.)

Fae
The Notes - A brilliant, ethereal scent: white musk, bergamot, heliotrope, peach and oakmoss.

In the vial - Peach and bergamot….very rich and citrusy

Wet - Peach is very strong

Dry - Super sweet peach - smells like I rubbed a peach on my skin

Later - Faded pretty quickly. Nothing really interesting left. Off to swap.

Gluttony
The Notes - Thick, sugared and bloated with sweetness. Dark chocolate, vanilla, buttercream, and hops with pralines, hazelnut, toffee and caramel.

In the vial - My god they aren't even kidding - OH DEAR GOD CHOCOLATE

Wet - Overly sweet. Washed off almost immediately.

I had a feeling I wasn't going to like it much, but I tried it for posterity's sake, given how much Mad Hatter changed on my skin. Away that one goes.

Hurricane
The Notes - a high pitched, tangy, clear scent -- light China rain deepened by murky vetivert

In the vial - China rain. Holy CRAP China Rain.

Wet - Really sharp. Too sharp. Hoping it will soften

Dry - Nope. STILL very sharp.

Later - I had to wash it off after an hour… too sharp, never softened.

Mary Read
The Notes - Salt air, ocean mist, aged patchouli, sarsaparilla, watered-down rum, leather-tinged musk, and a spray of gunpowder.

In the vial - sweet and kind of sour (in a good way)

Wet - Sarsaparilla and the salt air are most dominate - definitely getting a bit of that salty air effect, but not overpowering

Dry - Musty leather and ocean mist are starting to show, still sweetened by the sarsaparilla

Later - Softened to something that reminds me a bit of Sea Breeze astringent XD (which isn't necessarily a bad thing - memories of my childhood, as my mom used to use that stuff.) Really light and fresh. Never really got the gunpowder though.

Although not what I was hoping for as a Yaone scent (mostly in the gunpowder aspect), definitely a keeper.
