So, I was trying to cook something different tonight in the form of a smoked haddock kedgiree. Poached the haddock quite nicely in milk with lots of aromatic spices, then decided to cook the rice in the same milk rather than in water. So far, so good. However, I then stupidly decided to flavour the rice with lemon, so promptly curdled all the milk. *facepalm* Managed to salvage the dish by re-cooking some fresh rice, and I can attest that the end result is pretty yummy, but what an idiotic thing to do, eh?
