Dear Author Letter

Apr 06, 2018 16:17

Dear Author,

My general likes / DNWs and specific requests are below. I hope that I've made this fairly easy and generally comfortable for you.

(If not, let me know, so that I can make this more user-friendly!)

Note: This list also serves as fandoms and pairings that I will write, as well as how I prefer to write them. (If you request something specific that isn't here, or a pairing outside of those listed, I'll work with you the best I can. I am generally a woobie.)

General

WRITE WHATEVER YOU WANT FOR THE PAIRING / CHARACTER, so long as you don't step on the DNWs. There are prompts for each request, but they're optional (in the AO3 sign-up post and some here). If you see the pairing / character and there's this Thing You've Always Wanted to Do, go for it. I am here to be happy for fic, not to give you a list of explicit instructions that mean I could totally write that fic myself, and am just too lazy. (It's true.)

For Likes and DNWs, I've listed three for each, that I would absolutely like you to comply with in general, but most pairing / characters have a couple specific DNWs (in the AO3 sign-up post and below). The parenthetical continuations of likes and DNWs are all optional. Read / use them with your best judgment. Do not over-stress yourself!

Likes: Canon-compliant (with some hand-waving allowed), third-person perspective, and single-character limited or omniscient narration.

(Optional likes: I love happy endings, fun plots, established relationship (a lot), role reversal, slice of life, meet the parents / family, outsider perspective, asexuality, temporary genderswap, people find out (but don't get upset), and, in general, Christmas fic (any time of year). There are a couple AU genres that I do like: soulmate trope, winding up in the wrong reality, time travel, and specifically Supernatural crossovers that are basically early-series Sam&Dean showing up and interacting.)

DNW: AU (episode / moment tags are fine, as well as the ones listed in optional likes), rape/non-con, mpreg.

(Optional DNW: most A/B/O, sex as the plot, most kinks (see below), non-canon character death as the plot, hurt/comfort as the plot, and character-bashing are pretty big DNWs. For the record, I do not consider stealing a kiss to be dub-con, and I usually don't have a problem with enthusiastic dub-con where consent is at some point established. Things I've found that immediately put me off a fic: poorly researched geographical facts (it's a weird pet peeve), general errors with canon, and first-person narrative. Caveat: Sometimes first person is needed, and in those instances, it's fine. I just find that those circumstances are very rare.)

If you're going to write smut, please abide by these additional likes and DNWs. (Anything not listed is either "meh," or I don't know it exists? Err on the side of less kinky?)

Likes: vanilla (I'm super lame), oral sex, anal sex, vaginal sex, hand jobs, rimming, frottage, intercrural sex, topping from the bottom, reverse cowgirl, biting / marking, alternate hard surfaces, public sex, cock worship, consenting aphrodisiacs, consenting drunk sex, not-overly-violent angry sex, somnophilia (with eventual consent), butt plugs, dildos, being turned on by something inappropriate or at an inappropriate time.

DNW: kink shaming, tentacles, scat, BDSM, Dom/sub, pain play, daddy kink, collars, praise kink, erotic humiliation, anything more than a threesome, double penetration, talking about mating someone (I'm looking at you, TW fandom), using the word "member" for a penis, anyone under the age of 14, inability to consent.

Requests

Please see the AO3 requests! My basic headcanon / likes / DNWs for the character / pairing I requested are below. There are prompts intermeshed with this, but as always, prompts are totally optional. I try to keep this updated for everything I've ever requested, so there are some guidelines, but if I requested something from you and it's not here, just go with the general like/DNW stuff above. ♥ Note: for fun sexytiems, when I write "character/character," that means I prefer the character before the / as being on top. I'm 100% cool with versatility (except in a couple noted circumstances), this is just my preference.

Adrien English (Josh Lanyon): I have read all of canon. All of it. I promise.
Jake/Adrien: I just love them so much. I want to see bits and pieces of Jake's feelings when they're apart, or when they first got together, or out at the farm, or seeing Adrien on the boat, or-- okay, Jake's POV at contentious times (for him) is sort of my true love, here. I do not dislike Jake's wife or family. No character-bashing. In fact, dealing with Jake's family is lovely. (Even if the interaction itself isn't lovely.) I also love them just being domestic and Adrien being sarcastic and Jake being super fluffy while trying to remain long-suffering. (Because it's so them.) From Yuletide: I really want post-series. I mean, there could someday be another book, yes, but I'd love post-series. Also Jake's POV. I'm incredibly not-picky when it comes to this request. I just want post-series Jake POV, and the fluffier the better. Rot my teeth.

Battlestar Galactica (2003): I have seen all of canon.
Lee/Kara: I just frakking love them. So much. I like them sleeping together when they shouldn't be, them being angry because they love each other, and I'm intrigued by post-canon. Kara basically became a guide, what with having been dead for so long. She was Caprica Six, but for everyone. I love exploring the dimensionality of that. What if she came back? Why would that happen? What about reincarnation? Why did Kara guide them after she died? How did she do it? I also love sad-but-calm Lee from the end of the series, and the idea that he moves on, but his and Kara's relationship shows up in his emotions and things he dreams and almost sees. I like realistic endings for BSG fic, in general, but especially for them.

Chicago Med: I'm behind on canon (I'm only a few episodes into season three), but spoilers for this don't bother me. As for the rest of One Chicago, I've seen season one of Fire, part of season one of PD, and all of Justice.
Will/Connor: They have such excellent chemistry. I really like get together fics for them, and also everybody finds out fics. (Especially Jay finds out.) I'm not a fan of most of the other characters on the show, but I never enjoy character-bashing. I like fic for them with a minimum of ensemble characters.

Da Vinci's Demons: I've seen through the first episode of season two. (I'll watch it all eventually, I just joined the party late.) I actually hate Lucrezia, but I hate character-bashing more, so just leaving her out would be my preference. (Though if she has to tragically die, well, c'est la vie.)
Leo/Riario: I see them as like 75% totally versatile, and I actually have no idea who the what the other 25% is. Like, they would have a preference, but I don't have one. If that makes any sense. More relevantly, I love them being forced to work together. I love the fact that all of season one they're working toward the exact same thing, but because the forces they work with are at odds, they're at odds. Even though they're not actually at odds (except in morals, because true story, but is it?). I also really love stories that deal with Riario's obsession with Leo.
Leo/Zoroaster: 100% versatile, I have no preference. I love the friends-with-benefits concept for them, as well as the essentially-married concept (because both fit). I'd love backstory with them off doing likely irresponsible things hilariously.
Zoroaster/Nico: Not so much with the versatile (though I'm not opposed?). I love how these two wind up wandering off to take care of Leo's random crap all the time. Like, they really love that dude, whoa. I like the idea of them getting together in their love of Leo (but no threesome, because Leo doesn't share the spotlight, true story), but also them just spending time together and bonding and growing closer naturally. I love the idea of fun plot!fic for them, but I've never actually managed to find any.

Doctrine of Labyrinths (Sarah Monette): I have read all of the canon.
Felix/Mildmay: Their relationship just utterly fascinates me. Felix is so flighty, hot one moment and cold the next, but with an underlying well of loyalty. Felix not caring if Mildmay sleeps with someone else, so long as he still loves Felix best, is my headcanon. Mildmay, on the other hand, is a living example of fidelity through anything. He accepts his brother's romantic love and returns it, because it doesn't occur to him that it shouldn't. He loves Felix more than Felix loves him, and he accepts it, because that's who he is. He doesn't mind if Felix sleeps with someone else, and wouldn't mind if Felix fell in love and stayed with someone else. He would still be there, for whatever Felix wants. Mildmay exists in shades of grey, where the ends justify the means. He's honorable to the point where he can be, and then does what he needs to do. I love post-series them, but I also love missing scenes. I care a lot more about Mildmay's perspective than Felix's, but Felix's can be really fun when it's a narrative of his perceptions about Mildmay.

Eragon: I know all of canon (this is not to say I've read it - somewhere in Inheritance I got bored and never wandered back?). Spoiler away.
Murtagh/Eragon: For them, I really just enjoy quaint, slice-of-life pieces. LBR, Murtagh's life is something out of a horror movie (or novel in need of a sympathetic nemesis), and being cute and happy is sort of my dream for them. I also really like stolen moments.

Eureka: I have seen all of canon, but not read any of the spin-off books.
Nathan/Jack: I'm totally cool with handwaving Nathan back to life. I do also like plots where they bring him back. I have a thing for Allison figuring out they're in love (or lust) before they do. I really like Established Relationship for them, where they still argue and act pretty much exactly like they always have.

The Expanse: I have seen all of the show and read the first two books. I will continue to read the books. I'm not super bothered by spoilers, though.
Amos: Amos has this thing where he likes to set himself up as the one-directional juggernaut, but he just isn't, you know? He stops doing it (so much) over time, and I love that. Amos & character development & loyalty is my secret love affair with this series. Like, I relate to Holden like woah, but Amos is my favorite. I'm less interested in more dealings with his background, because there's enough of that in canon to satisfy me. I like applications of his life and psychology. The more well-versed you are in psychology and standard trauma reactions, I'd love it if you'd try something that deals with that. If you are not, don't worry about it, I also love seeing when people dump a whole bunch of responsibility on Amos that he thinks he's not qualified for, but does anyway, because it's what he has to do. (Ideally: Holden does the dumping of responsibility, because it's a thing he does sometimes, and also because he has that weird internal understanding of Amos' ability that Amos also likes to deny -- they just both really have their head in the sand about themselves for a long time.)
Jim: I mean, Holden is sort of the ultimate dumbass Gryffindor. This Is the Right Thing, also Just Deal With It, and Fuck I Don't Like This Consequence Dammit. I relate to him really well, as I am also that dumbass Gryffindor. Like, man, there are so many easy ways out! Take them! BUT NO, I CAN'T, THERE'S A RIGHT THING TO DO, even if it turns out to be a really fucking terrible idea after it's actually happened. Whoops. He's also super reluctant to own up to his own idealism really frequently, which is hilarious to me. Like, no, no, I'm not the hero, I don't want to be the hero, shit I'm the hero aren't I. (Like in his dealings with Avasarala and her weird desire for him to always wind up leading things. LOL.) Anything that deals with all of the above (or does a nice focus on part of it) would be something I'd enjoy. Especially Holden being really frustrated with himself for Doing It Again, Dammit. (Ideally: Amos pointing it out in his no-bullshit way and Holden attempting to argue with the brick wall that is Amos' logic. Just. Priceless.) (Honestly, if I read it and wind up thinking, "OH GOD I'VE DONE THAT," you've won the best gift fic ever award.)
Amos & Jim: I mean, pick a time where it's just them (Nemesis Games or later, ideally) and they're totally fucked, but they manage to pull it off, and deal with the bonding and emotional fallout of that. Those sorts of things are my favorite for the two of them. The more relationship analysis and interaction, the better. I'm not super picky beyond that.
Amos/Jim: So, this is one of those pairings where I read it and went, "Yes. Yes to all of that. I see that." Honestly, I read them as poly / background / stress relief / accidentally over time becomes a thing. Like, their canon relationships are cool, I hate on literally none of those people, and making Amos/Jim work while still keeping canon is my favorite. I love their interactions and the way that Amos went from kind of disliking Jim but mostly following his lead, to still disliking Jim but respecting his word as Captain, to weirdly fond of Jim who is The Captain, to-- You get what I'm saying. I love the evolution of the relationship platonically just as much as romantically. (Whereas Jim is sort of "if it breathes, I'll sleep with it" and casually trusts and mistrusts everyone simultaneously like a hypervigilant whack job. I love Jim.) From Yuletide: there are two very distinct things I'd really enjoy for them. First, how does their relationship spill over into a sexual one? (Don't feel the need to write smut; I mean, I'd love it, but I'm never disappointed without it.) I just don't see this relationship as a Declarations At Midnight kind of thing. More like, Hey That Happened. But how do you see it? I'm interested. Second, established relationship, but no one really knows about it? There's no hiding going on, it's just that neither of them have felt the need to announce it. Honestly, a five times other people didn't understand what they were seeing and one time they did would scratch this itch really well.
Ensemble: I love the whole team. It's true. Give them something impossible to accomplish, but focus on Holden & Amos. OR, totally on the other end, give them some ridiculous banter and downtime, but with a focus on Holden & Amos and their absurd personality quirks.

The Fast and the Furious: I have seen all of canon (even the shorts).
Dom/Brian: (Not super versatile for this one.) I love post-specific-thing for these guys. Like, post-first movie: what happens if they run into each other here? Or post F&F: OH MAN THE DRAMA. Post-canon, too. Snippets, moments, etc. I kind of see them as poly, wherein the canon relationships are still a thing, but this relationship is sort of transcendent. They're just drawn together in a super emotionally intimate way, and neither of them really have compunctions about that also being a physically intimate thing.

Fullmetal Alchemist: I have seen & read all of canon. All of the canons. So many canons.
Roy/Ed: (I really don't like versatility in their sexual relationship, not because I see Ed as a bottom, but because I like the emotional intent involved in Ed giving up some of his control.) I have nothing wrong with underage here unless it's "wow we just met and you're 12 let's do it." More like as of the beginning of the primary storyline (Roy is 29, Ed is 15). I also love post-canon them, whether you stop canon at the 2003 anime, the post-2003 movies, Brotherhood, or the manga. I don't like other canon SOs getting killed / shoved out of the way for expediency, though.

Gentleman's Alliance Cross: I have read all of canon. (This is also known as Shinshi Doumei Cross, for those confused.)
Maguri/Maora: I love post-series. Something either post-college post-series or WAY post-series. Ensemble cast is always great with them, but otherwise something calm, and quaint, and cute is just fine. I've always really wanted them to have a happy ending. Rather than an ambiguously happy ending, as the author's so well known for. Something that deals with Maguri giving zero fucks about Maora being biologically male is always interesting.

Gilmore Girls: I have seen all the canon.
Logan/Rory: I love their relationship in canon - I have zero interest in anything AU for them. Post-canon, specifically, but I would also love Logan's perspective during the show / mini-series. Established relationship for them is fun, but I also like them attempting to deal with All Of The Baggage.
Rory & Logan & Finn & Colin & Michael (or any combination thereof): So many antics! So. Many. Antics. I would literally take anything with these characters. (Non-shippy, though. Logan/Rory can be background, but gen is my preference.)

Gohou Drug / Drug and Drop: I have read all of canon, as well as everywhere else they show up in CLAMP's freaky universe. I know All of the Things. (Up until about 2008 I had read All of CLAMP. I blame some of my personality on this.)
Rikuou/Kazahaya: Them being together at literally any point in canon is good for me. Kazahaya's emotions are fantastic, especially when he believes Rikuou doesn't care, or when he's being calm and kind. Backstory fics are great. Since there is no "post-canon," speculative fics are amazing, and I really enjoy get together fics for them.

Gravitation: I have read all of canon, including the remixes and the still-ongoing-but-stalled sequel. I've also seen the anime, and enjoy both canons. (Though I appreciate manga!Shuuichi a little more than anime!Shuuichi, since he's a deeper character, and has more emotional growth.)
Yuki/Shuuichi: Shuuichi is so damn adaptable to what Yuki does and says, and I love when Yuki notices that and cares. I pretty much love anything where Yuki cares more than he thinks he should, and acts on it. I like moments where Shuuichi is serious but still kind. I also really, really love smut with them. One of the only fandoms where I'll read smut for smut's sake. Obviously Established Relationship, but I have a thing against them breaking up. Being apart and angry, sure, but not truly breaking up.
Ryuuichi/Tatsuha: A great background relationship. I also really love serious!Ryuuichi initiating things with Tatsuha (and here's where I'm okay with dub-con with eventual consent? Gravitation does weird things to my morals). Also, yes, I really do mean Ryuuichi on top most of the time.

Gundam Wing: I have seen and read all of canon, including the comics. I don't hate Relena. Or Dorothy.
Duo/Heero: (This is another one where I don't really go versatile with smut. My headcanon for this is as old as my relationship to fandom.) Post-canon all the way. Canon character depictions, not fanon, please. Duo is not outrageously depressed at the end of canon and Heero can, in fact, interact with other humans. There's a lot of awkward, sure, but they're both functional. I love investigating coping mechanisms and how shared trauma impacts their relationship.
Trowa/Quatre: I don't actively ship this, but it's cute and if you need a background relationship, it's my preference.
WuFei/Relena: Also a good background relationship.

Harry Potter: I have read and watched all of canon. I'm cool with HP:EWE, but I'm also cool with post-epilogue. I don't have a hate-on for any of the characters.
Draco/Harry: I enjoy stolen moments from during the series, but I don't like those moments screwing with canon. I really love post-canon fic. I really like Ginny - I think she's awesome - so please don't demonize her. I love plots where Harry and Draco run into one another in completely incongruous situations while still adhering to canon.
Sirius/Remus: I'm in the camp of people who think they were together at Hogwarts and pretty much all the way through everything, up until Sirius dies. I'm in love with scenarios that deal with all the emotions that the events therein would cause. I also think that James, Lily, and Peter would know, and probably Dumbledore and McGonagall, but they otherwise kept it fairly secret (being, you know, the 70s and 80s). I like outsider perspective fic for them, as well as Super Awkward Get-Together fics. Like, they're teenagers and sex is not the smoothest thing in the world when you first get around to it. My headcanon is that both of them are bi- or pansexual and that Sirius might have a little bit of internalized homophobia from his youth.

Havemercy Series (Jaida Jones and Danielle Bennett): I have read all of canon. And little spin-off things. All of it.
Rook/Thom: I love these two in pretty much any situation. Pre-books, during-books, post-books, super future!fic: all of it's good. I really enjoy the detailed aspects of their relationship, where Rook understands that this being related thing is Not Actually Good but at the same time can't help but be protective, because he was of Thom before he found out, and finding out just amped it up. I really love this relationship from Rook's point of view, in general. I like how Thom sees everything as uncomplicated by rational decision. He's so cute. I do see them romantically pretty much 100%, but romantic implications rather than sexual content is totally cool.

Inception: I have seen the movie and all the special features, as well as many interviews expanding on the plot.
Eames/Arthur: I really love domestic!fic for them. I also enjoy fic where they are already in a relationship when the movie starts, or were in a relationship. Backstory fic is great, too. For some reason, I don't really find post-movie get together fic that much fun.

Iskryne Series (Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear): I'm up-to-date on canon, but also don't mind spoilers with this one. DNW: any actual or implied bestiality.
Vethulf/Isolfr: I loved these two in the first book, with all their antagonistic flirting. Isolfr growing out of being like, "Ugh no must simply live through this" over time is fun, but I also want, you know, actual romance and fluff and happy, fuzzy feelings. These two are a feelings pair.
Skjardwulf/Vethulf/Isolfr: I love how they are canon (yay life), but pull Isolfr in more on a romantic-emotional level and it's so incredibly often. I will read all the of the domestic!them. All of it. I will also read Skjardwulf and Vethulf being all together and Isolfr being jealous, or them dragging Isolfr in through love and kindness, or Isolfr being romantic with Vethulf, Vethulf being romantic with Skjaldwulf, and Vethulf's stubbornness is like "no dudes we're all together now deal with it."

Kaze Hikaru: I have read all of canon that is available in English.
Hijikata/Souji: They have such a complicated relationship in the manga, and I love it. Souji looks up to Hijikata, but as the series progresses, he sees more and more of Hijikata's flaws, and doesn't (really) hesitate to mention them (in private, respectfully). Souji slowly dying is obviously incredibly difficult for Hijikata, and he seems to try really hard not to think about it. Anything with them dealing with Souji's disease, or the war in general, or even just about the Shinsengumi would be great. (Honestly, even we're-Sei's-two-dad's would be super adorable.)

Killjoys: I have seen all of canon. In general, I adore everyone on this damn show.
D'avin: D'avin is not great at showing people how he feels, so he does things instead. He's physically affectionate instead of emotionally affectionate. He obviously still feels incredibly guilty about attacking Dutch and nearly killing Johnny, and isn't 100% sure how to deal with that. All this time later and he's still awkward about it. General things: I would love pre-canon stuff. Like, D'av while he was military, or when he was a kid, or the period of time between his leaving the military and Johnny finding him. Any of that would be phenomenal. I would also really love his perspective on his first few days with Johnny and Dutch, since we get a lot of his being like, "...huh" on the show, but no real deep dive into it.
Johnny: I'm a sucker for pre-canon, what can I say? I'd love something with him back with his mom and dad after D'av left. Johnny and Dutch pre-series is also a whole lot of fun, and I'm totally for it. I'd love for it to be sort of "Johnny is unexpectedly much better at this case than Dutch is," if it's case!fic, because we all know Dutch is awesome and kind of a god-mod. Them bonding is also something I'd love.
D'avin/Johnny: I feel like they've probably been together since before D'avin left. Just, they've always been close and D'avin was a giant failboat at trying to save Johnny and it just happened. I'm cool with either open and out-in-day relationship, or something private they keep to themselves. I'm not cool with Dutch being !!! about it or jealous. Love them in episode tags or stolen moments, also love them in backstory (it adds yet another dimension to D'av leaving, and I find that fascinating). Some more: again, I really like pre-canon for them. Like, if they were together pre-canon, how did that happen? Conversely, how does that history affect what happens in canon? (I don't like AU very much -- meandering in and among canon is awesome, though.) With season four in play: how does Hullen Johnny affect it? I would also be totally fine with slice of life for them, too.
D'avin & Johnny: Kid!fic. Like, when they were kids, not having kids. Though Jaq is totally welcome. Them as kids is really interesting to me. Also moments where it's just them during the course of the show. There really aren't a lot of them (up until season four, of course, which was sort of my nirvana in character interaction), and while we get moments with each of them with Dutch, I'd love just their reaction to something. Sibling bonding! Like, there's no way Johnny isn't still pissed through most of the show - not a ton of time passes, after all. But how is that dealt with?
Dutch/Alvis: We'll just ignore the end of season three, yes? I love the equal relationship that they have. All of it.
D'avin/Johnny/Dutch: I actually see this as D'avin/Johnny & D'avin/Dutch with Dutch being 100% A-okay with everything (somewhat enthusiastically), Johnny being neutral and Johnny about it all, and the three of them in bed together occasionally. D'avin being an idiot is also very, very believable. D'avin being really uncomfortable with all the emotions is also good, or him in a relationship with Dutch because he and Johnny are a thing just for them, but he feels guilty, Dutch finds out, and everyone lives happily ever after. From Yuletide: D'av/Johnny & D'av/Dutch: so, as mentioned, I really like canon. Despite my pairing preference, I don't have anything against D'av/Dutch, either. My headcanon for this is honestly that D'av is with both of them, they both know, and nobody cares. You could also write OT3, if that's how you wanted to do it, just don't let the focus be Johnny/Dutch, because not my cup of tea. For the separate-but-equal concept, I really like D'av-centric stories. Like, there are no hard feelings, he cares about both of these people in both similar and different ways, and how that works with what he's feeling. I honestly prefer this version of the pairing. If you want to write something less "quiet," Dutch finding out about the whole separate-but-equal situation and ultimately not caring (though she can react however initially?) would be fun, too.

Krypton: I have seen all of canon, but if this is based on something in the comicsverse, I have no idea.
Seg/Adam: Seg is such a Nice Guy and Adam is such a Not Nice but Well-Intentioned Guy and that's really just my very favorite type of pairing. Seg is the "what's best for these people that I love, and the world at macro so far as it touches them" character, and Adam is more like, "I really don't want to do it this way, but someone has to" character. Just their dichotomy in play with a romantic relationship is lovely. Adam's obviously pretty smitten with Seg from day one, so that's a fun angle, too.

Leverage: I have seen all of canon, but not read the companion novels.
Eliot: I'm a wee bit obsessed with Eliot's emotions and history and character and everything. I have this thing about how he walked into the series knowing people outside of the team (trusting people outside of the team) and just being like, "And now this is my team, and I will be to-the-death devoted to them." He gets a little less super-serious throughout the series, but he doesn't really change in the same ways the other characters do. We get glimpses into things that really affect him, and his history, but not a lot. I love bringing back the side characters that Eliot is friends with. He's the mom friend, but also still really closed off with his personal feelings. I like exploring that and how it effects his relationships.
Parker/Hardison/Eliot: I ship Eliot. That's what I ship. Eliot. I see this as Parker/Hardison as in canon, but Eliot is always welcome. Probably they have to deal with Eliot's lack of sharing feelings, but he's as much a part of the relationship as they are, he's just allowed to come and go.
Nate/Sophie/Eliot: Basically the same as above. Nate/Sophie is the base relationship, but Eliot is always welcome. Sophie is better with Eliot's emotions than the others, so he probably gets away with less shit here, but Eliot's also the most Come To Jesus when Nate's being a dumbass, and Nate settles Sophie, so it works?
Eliot/Literally Anyone: No, seriously, anyone at all. I really just ship Eliot and emotions and how he takes care of people but struggles to let them take care of him. (Exception: No OT5. Not into it.)

Love Mode: I have read all of canon, including the few side-stories not published in English.
Reiji/Naoya: Them being adorable and happy is really my greatest wish in this universe. I'm only sort of joking. I re-read their later stories in the series pretty religiously. It just makes me so happy when they're happy. I love when Reiji is somewhat discomfited by the age difference and Naoya gives zero fucks. Interacting with either of their families is also really fun.
Takamiya/Izumi: Izumi doing nice things for Takamiya is adorable and hits the spot for these two. I also really love them interacting with other people, like Takamiya's colleagues or Izumi's friends. I like when Izumi's a little uncomfortable, but defends the relationship, and I love it when Izumi just doesn't mind and introduces Takamiya, or brings him, without any issues.
Haruomi/Kiichi: Haruomi being protective is always lovely, but I enjoy Kiichi being protective even more. For them, I enjoy Haruomi angsting about not being good enough, or Kiichi being insecure because, you know, he's Haruomi's boss, so what's to say Haruomi isn't just grateful? Angst is great with them.
Jin/Katsuki: Making Katsuki work for it is half the fun of this pairing, but I also love Jin being sweet to and defensive of Katsuki. I really want to read Jin taking Katsuki places after accepting the relationship isn't going anywhere, and Katsuki meets people as his SO and winds up really startled. Or the other way around: Katsuki introducing Jin to people and Jin being appropriately boyfriend-like.

The Magicians: I have seen all of TV canon. I have not read the books, but I've read summaries?
Quentin: I love Quentin so freaking much. I love the concept that he's the "hero" just because, not as a result of his being Better and Cooler and such -- no, it was just chance, and his own determination. He's the one who doesn't give up, even though his brain makes him depressed and want to give up all the time. I can relate to that. He's a good person, but not a great person, and he's just so fabulous.
Eliot: Eliot is so much fun. He's secretly a hardcore woobie and sort of a magical genius, but BOY OH BOY are you not allowed to know that. He's multi-faceted to the point of blindness, and I love it. He understands hard work but tries to avoid it. Sometimes he catches feelings, and he gets burnt a lot, but he still catches the feelings. Oh, Eliot.
Margo: I love High King Margo. I'm a big, big fan. Margo is competent and a badass, while still being adorable and fun. I love her interactions with pretty much everyone.
Eliot/Quentin: I enjoy that Eliot sort of claimed Quentin at the very beginning of the show, and has been super consistently pro-Quentin (while still sarcastic and an ass like a pro). It feels less like a "you're adorable" (which is what I thought the fascination was when I was first watching), and more like an immediate interest and attraction, which is confusing to him. And Quentin is basically just a confused little cuddly puppy and it's all adorable, while at the same time his intense self-dislike and depression makes him doubt everything. They work well together -- they complement one another.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015): I have seen the movie, and random episodes, but please stick to movie canon. (I know the basic elements of the show, villains, etc., so adding those is fine, just no "you need this specific episode detail" sorts of things.)
Illya/Napoleon: Get together fic is my happy place for them. (Established Relationship is still my One True Love, but Get Together is almost equal here.) I have a thing for fic where Napoleon is the one with the issue about the relationship, because he doesn't do serious relationships. Period-appropriate homophobia and secrecy do not bother me. Napoleon using sex as a weapon doesn't bother me. Anything even sort of dub-con between Napoleon and Illya bothers me a lot.

Marvel: Comics: Please don't use Ultimates. I prefer the vast terror that is 616. That said, I have good canon knowledge, insofar as anyone born after 1985 has good canon knowledge. (I'm willing to research to understand, though.)
Steve/Tony: So fucking much history, and so many unforgivable things. I like both fluff and really pained love for them. They are a pairing I lovelovelove the soulmate trope for. Honestly, I just fucking love them, have fun.

Marvel: MCU: I have seen all of canon. I like big-picture crazy adventure fics or tiny moment fics, for this canon.
Steve/Tony: They aren't as close in MCU as in the comics, and I like when that's taken into account in writing them -- they know each other mostly professionally, and sort of bonded-in-the-trenches sort of thing. Steve still has preconceived notions about Howard. I still think they're together, but I'd love to see that relationship sharpen. Especially after Civil War.
Steve/Tony/Bucky: I see this largely as Steve/Tony and Steve/Bucky and Tony being pretty much like, yay polygamy, but secretly jealous, while Bucky's like, "...yeah, cool, I don't care." Steve just doesn't see why he only gets to love one person.
Thor/Loki: I only ship these two in MCU canon. Honestly, I only started shipping them after Ragnarok; I didn't see it before then. Since Infinity War has made most of my general requests Not Real Things, I guess in general I like moments in time. I'm also interested in whatever happened in the twelve seconds between the end of Ragnarok, spotting the ship, and everyone being murdered. (LBR, I really like post-Ragnarok Loki actually sticking around fic, but I also have a major hard-on for canon-compliance, so this is A Struggle.) I do not want Infinity War fix-it fic. Pre-canon is probably what I'm most interested in, right now. Or handwave Infinity War.

Merlin: I have seen all of canon. (And also read pretty much every version of the Arthurian Legend that exists in either English or Welsh.)
Arthur/Merlin: Just. They're so together. The end. I love them during the series, I love them incorporating Gwen, I love reincarnation, I love Merlin living a really damn long time until everyone else reincarnates (with the appropriate level of jaded trauma that would cause). I lovelovelove quest fic.
Arthur/Merlin/Gwaine: I feel like Gwaine has a bit of a crush on Merlin, and a respect hard-on for Arthur, and this would be very hot. Arthur would be sort of "Of course you do!" and secretly jealous of Merlin's attentions.

Queer as Folk: I've seen all of canon.
Brian: Oh, Brian. I really enjoy reading about Brian struggling with The Feels and also with how he keeps sabotaging himself (and doesn't seem to ever learn to STOP sabotaging himself). His interactions with everyone are shaded by who he thinks he should be around that particular person, and I love it.
Brian/Justin: I love that Justin sort of decided one day, hey, This Guy. There were a lot of circumstances that led to them, but Justin is why they really became Them. He didn't let Brian get away with his personality shifts for different people, and kept him on his toes. Their interactions are just so intense, even when they're light-hearted. I love post-series fic (and at one point moderated a collection of it on ffNET, because hi, really old fandom). Love it. Really anything where Justin is long-suffering and Brian is grumpy hits my fluff button.

Roswell, New Mexico: I've seen all of canon.
Michael: Michael, secret genius! If that was a thing on the original show, I totally don't remember it. That said? I LOVE IT. I love that he's been doing all this research on his own, and I love the research bros moments he and Liz have, because SCIENTIFIC METHOD PARTY TIME. Honestly, it was luck of the draw that he didn't get the flashy family, and Max & Isabel did, and that impacted him so much. He resents it, to a degree, and then is just happy that people he loves are happy, which is interesting.
Kyle: Okay, this incarnation of Kyle? Amazing. He's smart, he's interesting, he's a dynamic character -- all things original!Kyle was not (well, he grew borderline interesting). I love that he has independent relationships with multiple characters and that those relationships are well thought out. He likes Liz, but I don't think he loves her. I don't think he thinks he loves her, either, aside from some remnant "ah, that would have been nice" feelings. He's just great, and exploring more of what he thinks is fantastic.
Michael/Alex: This relationship is fantastic, and fun, and WAY TO GO new!Roswell. I like that both characters have lives and independent character dynamics, and neither of them are "the gay love interest" that shows tend to do lately. It's like they think, "Okay, we've covered the gay thing!" and only one of the characters ever does anything interesting (even if both characters are important). The fact that Alex gets to be interested in other things and interact, when we know he's subsidiary in plot dynamics to Michael, is great. I also feel that, like with Max & Isabel, Michael cares more in this relationship than Alex does. More interaction and breaking down of that would be amazing.
Max/Liz: I actually only sort of want them to wind up together? That said, Liz is an amazing character and Max is more interesting when she's around, pushing him to think about things that he would not otherwise think about (most likely). He has one dynamic with his family, and another with Liz, and yet another when his family and Liz are in the same place. It's just so interesting! And Max is completely dedicated -- it's like it hasn't even occurred to him that he should try to get over it, no matter what he says. Part of me wonders if Liz gets concerned by that at all, or if it just seems normal now. And what would it look like in an actual relationship?

Shadowhunters Book Series (Cassandra Clare): Not the show. Please don't use show canon.
Will/Jem: (Infernal Devices) I love this on an emotional level, if not a physical one. Still romantic love, but sort of an asexual romantic love.
Will/Jem/Tessa: (Infernal Devices) I see this sort of as Will/Tessa and Jem/Tessa, with Will/Jem/Tessa being Jem's emotional involvement when he's a Brother. I don't see Tessa thinking she needs to pick one of them. I'm also cool with it being a Will-is-somehow-alive scenario and Tessa really thinking she doesn't need to choose, since technically they're both her husband. Oh, Tessa.
Magnus/Alec: (Mortal Instruments) I love post-canon Magnus/Alec. So much love for post-canon Magnus/Alec. I do also love them being super domestic with their friends around, or really wanting to pawn off the kids so they can have some daddy/daddy time. I also really love the beginning of their relationship, when they're together and Alec has accepted it, but before he gets Really Stupid about the living forever thing. Magnus being super powerful and then Alec metaphorically hitting him with a newspaper for being cocky about it is also really fun.

Sherlock (BBC): I've seen all of canon. (And also read all the books, but I like TV canon better.)
Sherlock/John: DNW: dumb!John. Fanon makes John a lot more dense than he actually is a lot of the time. To be remembered: he's a medical doctor, and was a trauma doctor in the Middle East, so he gets flustered and yell-y a lot with Sherlock, but not a lot actually freaks him out. Obviously Sherlock is in a league of his own, but John isn't a derp. For romance, I'm equally fine with asexual!Sherlock and sexual!Sherlock. I like good asexuality plots for them, but I also like basic get togethers. I prefer them post-canon. I like when Sherlock is obviously flirting with John, but Sherlock doesn't actually notice, and John ends up like, "We've been dating for months now," and it's all sort of calm and funny. I love Holmes family fic, but I also love Watson family fic.

Shugo Chara: I have read and seen all of canon, including the sequel mini-series that wound up not being so mini.
Ikuto/Amu: My god can they please get together now? I love aged up them, because I both get a little creeped out by the small-child-bad-touch and I love interpretations of where Amu goes with her life, her decisions, and how Ikuto fits in with them. For them, I like Get Together fic more than Established Relationship, which is very weird. I love the ensemble sticking around, and Ikuto coming back to what is essentially an entire life without him. How does he react to that? I also agree with the fanon that he doesn't contact Amu at all until he's ready to see her. How does she deal with that? I like the idea that she's grown out of her childhood crush and he has to win her back.

Smallville: I have seen all of canon, but I have not read any of the SV-specific comics.
Lex/Clark: If they weren't at least making out accidentally or awkwardly in season one, and pretty much forever after that, I'll eat my hat. I love awkward!Clark with trying-too-hard!Lex, or I'm-so-suave-oh-shit-you-make-me-lose-my-shit!Lex. I love them still being together in an angry I Can't Quit You sort of way after Lex becomes evil(?). I lovelovelove post-canon Lex Knows and they're still together in an angry way. Super bonus points if Lex is the one who tries to make it work, versus Clark, and Clark just can't quite get there. Probably the only pairing where fic that doesn't end happily, and instead ends realistically, makes me just as pleased as adorable Established Relationship fluff.

Star Trek AOS: I have seen and read all of canon. I effing love this canon, it's so fun. I do not, however, include Disco in this canon. Please don't do that.
Jim Kirk: I love him. I lovelovelove him. Things that piss me off, though: dumb!Kirk, sleeps-with-his-crew!Kirk, always-angsty!Kirk, and sits-around-and-whines!Kirk. None of those are canon, and it annoys me that they've become fanon. Plots I enjoy in general: did Tarsus IV happen in this canon? What is Jim's relationship with Winona? What is Jim's relationship with Sam? Alternate Universes (in that it's an alternate canon, not, like, high school AU), time travel AU, mirrorverse in this canon.
Spock/Kirk: See above for Jim. I like Uhura, so realistic get together / history. I lovelovelove Established Relationship for them. This is an exception to my soulmate fic rule: I do not like it in this canon.

Star Trek TOS: I have seen all of canon, and read a quite frankly ridiculous number of novels. General disclaimer: for all the folks who watched this because of AOS (HUZZAH!), please don't use the AOS characterization and histories. They're very, very different.
Jim Kirk: (See above for characterizations I hate, they spill into this canon, too.) MY FIRST LOVE. Well. Alongside Daniel Jackson. I like pre-ST:TMP canon Kirk. I love when Kirk is sure of himself and does the Right Thing, but will fall into that grey area when he has to. I love City on the Edge of Forever and Tarsus IV plots.
Kirk/Spock: I have a major thing for equal partnership plots and Established Relationship. I also love them being something the crew knows, like a poorly kept secret, but that people outside the crew don't. I love Kirk trying to navigate Vulcan culture in the same way he can charm pretty much everyone else, but totally failing because he's too well-known and there are preconceived notions all over.

Stargate Atlantis: I've seen all of canon.
John/Rodney: (I like them completely versatile. I don't actually have a sexual relationship preference for them.) I like Sheppard family fic (a lot), but also Rodney being a genius and John just being horribly turned on by it. I dislike when people forget that John is also incredibly intelligent, but equally dislike when that's the entire point of the story. I love fic with them where everyone else knows they're dating, but John & Rodney haven't quite caught on yet. (Or John has caught on, but just finds it hilarious, so he lets Rodney carry on in oblivion.)

Stargate SG-1: I have seen all of canon, except the new web series. SGU is a blur of "I hated this," so there's that, too.
Jack/Daniel: I ship them from day-freaking-one. Like, they started getting tingly romantic feelings during the movie levels of day one. That said, I also like Daniel/Sha're and don't their marriage being dismissed in order for Jack/Daniel. I'm a big believer in being able to love more than one person at once. I prefer not pretending DADT didn't exist, and working with and around it instead. I also love post-canon fic for them.
Daniel/Vala: I love Vala. So, so much. She and Daniel just have the best interactions and such excellent chemistry on screen. I love Vala being shown around earth by a grudging Daniel, and I also love a Daniel who's willing to admit that Vala has grown on him.
Cameron/John Sheppard: Fuck me if I know why I like this, but it's very, very pretty. Variations on this that are also pretty include: Cam/John/Rodney, Cam/John/Evan, and Cam/John/Sam.

Stormlight Archive (Brandon Sanderson): I have not yet finished Oathbringer. Please don't spoil me. I am, however, overall informed on all of the Cosmere, so Cosmere nods and storylines are totally cool.
Adolin/Shallan/Kaladin: I kind of see Adolin & Shallan as the bigger relationship personalities, and Kaladin as just shrugging and enjoying them without a lot of "TREAT ME THIS WAY" preference. That said, I see them in an equal relationship, not Adolin/Shallan with the sometimes-addition of Kaladin. I am also cool with Adolin/Shallan, Kaladin/Shallan, and Adolin/Kaladin all developing independently, and like each of those as single-pair relationships, as well.
Adolin/Kaladin: First, I see them as 100% versatile to the point that I care 0% who's on top (which is rare for me). I love them having to work together and acknowledging their differences of both opinion and background, but still accomplishing things and growing respect for each other at the same time. I also love adrenaline stories with them.

Supergirl: I have seen all of canon. I also am well-versed in the comics canon.
Mon-El/Kara: I have no idea where we're going with this in the show, but don't pretend Imra doesn't exist or vilify her. Please. For them, I love the our-relationship-is-insane concept. I also love remembering that Mon-El is actually much older than Kara, in terms of the Kryptonian / Daxam timeline, and that for him, when he arrived on the show, their destruction was fresh. Post-future, less so, but they both have different viewpoints. She knew no one would survive, but he got thrown into that. I also love the concept that, hey, he's the Crown Prince of Daxam. If we're going with a canon where Krypton has an ambassador on Daxam (which: ...are we sure, canon?), then he knows Kryptonians. Kara's mom (and extended family) are incredibly important. I would assume that Mon-El has heard of them. It would be interesting to see that play out (esp. if it turns out he knew who Kara was).
Mon-El & Kara & Winn: they are just utterly adorable. I just want to see them interacting, at any point in canon. No character-bashing or retconning, but just interacting.

Switch: I have read all of canon, and seen the sort-of-anime OAV.
Kai/Hal: This is one of those instances where the / means nothing to me, they're totally versatile, I just love them together. Honestly, I really want post-series canon for them. I would love Rising From the Wreckage post-series fic, or get together, or even case!fic with the ensemble. I don't care where they "get together" in canon as relates to this pairing -- anything works for me. I just want it all.

Teen Wolf: I have seen all of canon. I do not think Peter is a good person. Post-canon I can accept him not being evil, but redeemed-awesome-Peter is not my thing.
Stiles: Stiles is all sorts of shades of grey, and probably the most morally ambiguous Good Guy on the show. (I don't consider Peter a Good Guy, and Malia is more Chaotic Good than True Neutral.) I hate when people forget he's brilliant (he and Lydia are vying for valedictorian in canon and it's mentioned several times). He also seems to be the only character to take homework seriously and find ways to sneak it in. I don't think of Stiles as a physical character, mostly because he's not. He's the Mastermind. He does improvise really well, and think amazingly well on his feet, and that's how I associate him with combat. Also, he's probably really good with a gun. Why? Because he probably saw his dad's gun and went usual-Stiles-obsession on it until his dad taught him how to use it.
Derek: My headcanon for Derek is that he gets emotionally involved very, very easily. (See: everything ever, including his relationships with Jennifer and Braeden.) This is not to say he's expressive of his emotions or good with them, but he doesn't struggle to care. I don't fall into the no-relationships-after-Kate group, because he was pretty obviously willing to get with Jennifer and Braeden. I do think he'd have a huge issue with any perception of power imbalance, though, because of Kate. I don't like handwaving that Derek is still an Alpha post-3A. My headcanon is also that he doesn't see himself as a part of Scott's pack, but still supports them.
Derek/Stiles: Derek not being completely silent is good? Because he's not. He's growly, but he does speak words. I also love post-series. (Or during-6B.)
Chris/Derek: I love this in a work-together turns into something-else fashion. Mutual respect. Not really angry!sex. During 6B is my favorite (or post-canon)
Chris/Peter: I have no idea why I like this. Um. See specific request?

The Unusuals: I have seen all of canon.
Casey/Davis: I love these two. Casey is so obviously in charge and Davis loves it. I really want post-series of them, established relationship. I would love case!fic where Davis winds up getting involved that involves the whole ensemble, but I also love Casey and Davis just having cute moments (or hilarious, awkward moments, because that's them to a T).

Valor: I have seen the whole series.
Gallo/Nora: I just love them. I wanted to see their relationship progress on the show, and, you know, it couldn't do that. I'd love future!fic of them not trying to get dishonorable discharges, but I also love missing scene stuff. I'm not a fan of character-bashing in any fashion, so getting them together, I feel, is where canon was going, but I don't think shoving anyone out of the way would make for a good fic. Really anything post-series would be awesome, too.

The Vampire Diaries & Related Canon: I've seen through the middle of season seven, and then the end of season eight. I watched season one of The Originals and then peaced out. I'm not interested in Elena-less TVD. I've also read the first four books, but I think we can all agree that the books and the show are not the same thing. Show canon, please!
Damon/Elena: Post-canon only. How do their lives go? How does Damon deal with Stefan not being there? Which relationships do they hang onto and which do they let go?
Klaus/Caroline: Post-canon only, with as little of The Originals as possible. Basically playing on the I will be your last love line, and how does that go? Mikaelson sibling cameos are 100% encouraged, as well as TVD cameos. Klaus & Caroline as a team would be terrifying if they really settled into it, and I want to see that.
Elijah/Elena: He promised to protect her, and I can see him taking that seriously, even beyond when he really has to. Damon/Elena is the easy story; Elijah/Elena is the road not taken. How do they get together? How does their relationship grow?
Damon & Stefan: Not romantic. I love their relationship, especially the growth and solidity over the course of the series. Brother bonding, either episode tags or missing scenes, is wonderful. Backstory is even better. How they were together pre-Katherine is something I really love.

X-Men: Movie!verse, which isn't really MCU, so it gets its own category. I have seen all of the movie!verse canon, both the 2000 series and the XM:FC series (as well as all the Wolverine movies, LOL). I don't read X-Men, so my comics canon is just when they show up with the Avengers.
Erik/Charles: As long as the characters are true to form, I love pretty much any way these two are written. Young, old, happy, angry, anything is fine. My favorites tend to be them together in XM:FC while at the mansion until Erik gets uncomfortable and Charles backs off, because he's Charles, but later, at any other point in canon, he un-backs off and calls Erik on it.

xxxHolic: I haven't finished the manga, but I've had it completely spoiled. So. No worries there!
Doumeki/Watanuki: I love them together at any point in canon. Doumeki being blunt about his feelings, like they're just another part of his reality, is fantastic. Post-canon is also great, with that divide between them, and Doumeki doing his best to ignore it and keep Watanuki grounded. The two of them crossover-ing with other canons in that universe is also really fun for me.

Yami no Matsuei: I have read and watched all of canon. Even the things not in English. I prefer comics canon. I do not have any sympathy or empathy for Muraki as a character.
Tsuzuki/Hisoka: Make it realistic. My big DNW for any YnM fic is Tsuzuki and Hisoka getting together and then jumping into bed. (Or, at least, jumping into bed and it being lovely. If they jump into bed it's going to be a fucked up nightmare.) My headcanon for Tsuzuki has him relatively fine with casual sex, but in no way associating Hisoka with that. Actual canon has Hisoka with zero experience outside of rape and murder. Psychologically, there are quite a few responses to this sort of thing, one of which is lots and lots of casual sex, but Hisoka doesn't present that way. He presents as having shut himself down, and with the empathy, his being touched sexually would be an explosion of NOPE without the proper preparation. I could see his view on sex potentially changing around the latest point in canon, or after he gets back from his Shikigami Recruitment Tour, but I still find it unlikely. Otherwise, I just love them together. I do also hate when Tsuzuki is written as just sort of dumb and clueless. He uses that as a defense mechanism, but a relationship involves growing past that. Slowly. I have a lot of feelings about this relationship. (Note that I am totally pro-Tsuzuki/Hisoka porn: it just has to be done correctly.)
