I doubt anybody noticed, but I was pretty absent this last weekend because I was away (maybe the lack of OGYD Twitter spam was noticed though...)
On Thursday night I caught the nightbus to Kyoto and then saw fade, amongst other bands, on Friday evening.
I stayed with my friend in Shiga on Saturday and Sunday and then headed to Kobe on Monday for another fade show. I caught the night bus back after the show and made it home at around 9am this morning.
The fade shows were a lot of fun, but far too short. I don't really remember too much from the Kyoto show though. I was stood directly in front of Nori, which is always a good place to be... XD
One thing I do remember is that I had time before the show so after locating the venue, I walked away from it so that I could freshen up in the bathrooms of a department store near the train station. As I was walking away from the venue, I came across the entire band walking to the venue. I said "hi" and got a greeting back from them so that was a cool way to start the show.
For Kobe I found myself directly in front of Jon (again) which was okay, apart from when he stood on the boxes that were in-between the stage and the barricade. They were the same height as the barricade, so about chest height, and when he stood on them and I looked up at him, all I could see was his crotch. I'm not particularly interested in Jon crotch to be honest, so instead I'd either look at Kansei or peer through Jon's legs to see Nori, hahaha. Jon smelt really nice in Kobe though.
The Kobe show was pretty tough on them, I think, as they drove up from their show in Kyushu the previous day and only arrived at the venue after doors had opened (and then had to carry their own equipment in because they were travelling with only three staff members). Godo snapped a string before the first song was over, Kansei misjudged the end of the stage at one point and nearly fell off, Jon and Kansei ran into each other because the stage was tiny and Rui looked ready to drop before the encore started. They put on a great show though and the crowd were very receptive. I thought the Kobe crowd was far better than the Kyoto one (and the Kobe venue was very interesting. There were toy animals hidden everywhere) and the band fed off that. It was a short set, but a good one and a fitting end to their mini-tour.
The days in-between the shows was mainly spent being dragged around shoe shops by my friend. She has commitment issues and couldn't decide on what shoes she wanted. I think we went to every ABC Mart in Kyoto (and there's a surprisingly large number of them) and a couple in Shiga too. I had the goal of not spending any money and I succeeded! Well, other than food, CDs of one of the support bands and a ticket to see the Kuroshitsuji musical, that is.
I'm officially on spring holiday now until April 15th. I have a project from the second job to do and that will keep me busy, especially as I mis-read the contract and the first deadline that I thought I'd made easily... I actually didn't make. I missed the part that said they wanted lesson notes and podcast scripts written and only did the lesson notes. I managed to do four scripts today (that's nearly 5,000 words) and will try to do the next three first thing tomorrow. Fail, Kellie, fail.
And of course, there's a trip to Okinawa. Really looking forward to that now!
