Rainbow...

Work wise, today was pretty good and fun. The weather was pretty awful though - typical September humidity and mugginess coupled with it raining most of the day. It was so grey outside that I almost thought I was back in England, although the heat proved that wasn't true!

On the walk home from the train station to my apartment, things had started to clear up. The sun was setting too, but there was this beautiful rainbow ahead of me as I was walking down the street.

The photo isn't the best as I took it with my phone (no filters, either), but it was probably the prettiest rainbow I've seen and it was made even more striking by the setting sun. The sky is often shaded red at that time of day so it reacted perfectly with the rainbow.

It looked like the rainbow ended on the road, and I felt that if I kept walking for long enough down the same road that I was on, that I'd be able to find the pot of gold at the end.

Shortly after taking this photo, I went into the supermarket to buy a couple of things and when I came out, only ten minutes later, the sky was dark and the rainbow had gone. I was really lucky to catch it when I did.

I'm not really the kind of person who sees metaphors and "signs" in things around me, but the idea of having a figurative pot of gold at the end of the road I was walking was too delightful to completely ignore. Keep going, keep working... you'll get what you want in the end.

I hope that's true.

(Although, it was true and if I did find a pot of gold at the end of my rainbow, I know exactly who would steal most of it away from me Ouji-sama, I'm looking at you)

deep thoughts alert, japan
